it kind of is :P I just ddin't call everything names and gave descriptions instead in attempt to not confuse people. "At the same time the game gives rewards to max level veteran players to queue for those dungeons, so they do actually pop. It takes away veteran players abilities and scales their armour down so you will never be overpowered by a max level player"

first levels go fast, then it slowly slows down. You expect a person to get stuck on level 50 MSQ for at least a week and 50 to 60 is turtle paced. I prefer this, but I kid you not, I was in MMOs where 1 to max level in less than a day is normal.

touched on it a little bit:
"Late game solo play. Verdict – Good. This game features probably the most interesting crafting and gathering systems that I have seen in any MMO, because when you equip a crafting or gathering tool, you equip it as a new class. You have to level your new class up the same way that you would do with a battle class (except not trough fighting, but trough crafting and gathering) and you do get just as many skills as you would on a battle class. They adjusted the xp so 50-60 isn't the slog it used to be. The longest portion is, understandably, the 2.1-2.55 MSQ portion since everyone was already level 50 by then. Next expansion the people playing catch up will have to contend with the 3.1-3.5 story as well.

It begs the question how long you played those MMOs.

I honestly think you did a good job OP and your accent makes it interesting to listen to. Since this mainly applies to potential new players looking to play the game, I think most of your points are accurate as well as rated fairly in that regard. People starting now will definitely get alot of stuff to keep them busy that wont feel like its wasted time. As for the main story forced requirements, it might be worth mentioning that Yoshi-P stated that he's looking into a way to minimize the requirements in 4.0, but as you said in the video, things are making progress. Endgame will always be a toss up for more veteran players, but new players honestly shouldn't worry too much since you have quite a bit to do that is persistent into 4.0.

Actually leveling is insanely fast. So that's one thing I'd say needs a bit of a correction.

There is no reason to make an alt.
Very poorly worded and as is, incorrect. There's most definitely reasons and huge benefits to making alts.

"There is no need to make alts." or "Alts, while beneficial, are completely optional in this game." Would have been much more accurate statements.

I was in MMOs where 1 to max level in less than a day is normal.
That's crazy though, at that pace you might as well not even have a levelling system.

your first time character will take a ton of time due to story gates though. If you were just spamming dungeons on your second class then yes.

Just the opposite. Your first job gets so much xp from main story + sidequests it's kind of silly.

I was following my boyfriend's progress when he was leveling to full a month ago. At level 20 main scenario was already not enough to continue going up in levels. He nearly quit at the 2.1 to 2.5 MSQ gates and exited to heavensward at level 51. Story stopped getting him trough levels there at 52, so extra questing and dungeoneering was 100% required. The only difference is that while I remember hammering the last dungeons 6 times in a row, he at most needed 2-3 runs. They did Exp buff, but it's nowhere near as fast as some other MMO leveling. And if it is your first character it does take around a months time. Obviously if you're playing more than a few hours a day you can probably hammer it out in a few weeks, but that won't be most people.

    Comparison speeds to other MMOs.
If you figure out that tasks are worthless Wildstar leveling will take you a day or two.
GW2 normal way I would say a week or two, however for alt leveling crafting exp grinding used to be a thing as it got your character to max in 4 hours.
WoW normal way is just as slow as FFXIV, but with friend boosts you can get that down to a week, if a friend just carries you trough dungeons.

Most of the FFXIV slow down comes from enforced main story. But I would consider that a good thing honestly. At least majority of our players know the story behind the world.

I should point out that there is no reason to try to catch up to other players in content. The level sync system means you will continue to be able to run content, new and old, for a long time to come. On top of that, queues are still excellent even for the low and mid range stuff; even as a dps I have never waited longer than 15 minutes at the worst, 5 to 10 minutes on average.

Take your time and Enjoy the story. I rarely say that, but the story in this game is easily the best I've seen on an MMO, and comparable to many of the single player Final Fantasy games out there.
