If I had to guess I would say that longer hairstyles would have significantly more clipping issues to deal with. We already have some clipping problems with certain gear with the hairstyles we have now, but a longer hairstyle would clip with just about everything. This might be why the developers haven't included any exceptionally long hairstyles yet. I don't mind having to work around clipping issues if it means more variety, but I know there are those who would prefer as little clipping as possible.

This is the very problem I've been having with my Miqo'te. Due to the jacket i'm using for my style, I am dangerously limited to a few (at best) that don't clip through its collar. It's hard to enjoy a glamour like this, when anything beyond the neck just skewers the jacket. I'd have no problem if they added longer hair styles, it's just hard to find a proper mesh of glamour pieces that look right on her whenever I apply said hair styles. The only ones I've managed to get this to work with is my Black Mage pieces and White Mage pieces. >>

If nothing else, we may actually better from implying the need for a project to make the current hair styles more versatile, to adjust to not just the hat, but the body piece as well. If hair styles really are a touchy subject in regards to clipping and the like, they may benefit from doing this sooner rather than later.
