I would love to see gear sets grant additional bonuses. Would actually give people a reason to try and get a full set/to use different armor. It would also be nice if the set bonuses weren't a stat boost, but something that affected skills/abilities (as you suggested). This could actually enable the classes to have even a little bit of variety, among other things.
Well, whatever works, really. Anything allowing us to customize our skills/abilities is welcome. I doubt either will happen, though.
My favourite system was the system used in Guild Wars since it allowed for so many different skill combinations/play styles.

I disagree with battle only players not having meaningful ways to make gil, and would just like to point out that you can already make a boat load of gil just by mindlessly killing stuff over world and selling the item drops like meats and hides as a battle class. Without ever needing to touch Disciple Hand or Land jobs.3.The Overworld. ... As it stands right now there are not many meaningful ways for a battle class to make money on their own. We are pigeon holed into a crafting or gathering class to make our money. Thats cool if you're into that, but I like killing things, not sewing. So let me make my money in the overworld by doing what I enjoy, killing stuff.
Your other points have merit.
To add on to "make money by killing things" maybe instead of Centurios you could get gil, a reasonable amount that won't rip apart the MB, say 100k(or 50) for a B rank, 3k for grade 3, 2k for grade 2, 1k for grade 1. That's like 700K per month total, which is a nice amount. But not too much. & will give the non money inclined incentive to save up & get that expensive glamour or gear they want.
You could go around killing stuff. When patches hit I farm deepeye tears as they shoot up to 5-10k per drop(normally 1k-1.5k) but only have less than 100 & more than 50 to show after an hour of mindless boring killing due to the abyssmal drop rates. Which is not bad at all but only during patch weeks bc the insane price skyrocket. "Hunting" would be far less miserable & get battle only peeps a small bit of money.

How would this increase buying power? Prices would just increase. To add on to "make money by killing things" maybe instead of Centurios you could get gil, a reasonable amount that won't rip apart the MB, say 100k(or 50) for a B rank, 3k for grade 3, 2k for grade 2, 1k for grade 1. that's "farming", not "hunting" and that's why you pay your retainer ventures to do the mindless stuff for you.but only have less than 100 & more than 50 to show after an hour of mindless boring killing due to the abyssmal drop rates. if you really want to hunt you should try hunting big game, see the stuff that drops from Ramuh EX, Mog EX, Turn 9 and Turn 13 and hunt those guys. that's how battle only people can make gil.
"hunting" was referring to the hunts for gil & not everyone wants to join a party/has level 60 retainers., this would also give more things to do for the overworld map & solo content with small incentives in one package. What you're saying is basically the equivalent of "why bother doing weekly hunts(solo) for centurios when you can kill A/S ranks(party)?" It's not like it'd be hard to implement at all. Actually marks already DO give small amounts of gil, 5k for B marks.
As for the raising prices remark, they already doubled some challenge log gil & things cost the same. Besides most people doing this would be the type of people who can't make money other ways so it's not like they'd buy up all the deepeye tears bc they don't craft & 90% of people who do make money other ways wouldn't bother with it bc like I just said, it is too small an amount to destroy the MB, & only level 50+ could do it.
Jeez that's the last time I say an idea.

1. I wish there were more options with PvP and with this option you'd have your own FC premades which would be awesome as PvP is limited in this game I think it'd be a great idea having these tournaments, but how would you handle them? tank, healer, 2 DPS formula? Because i'm tired of that even with the buffs to Drk in PvP you can make it clutch with a Mch/Nin + soul survivor = blow someone up. But even then it's just an annoying restriction but might be OP who knows..Hello, you may no me as the guy that calls the game out on its staleness and its stubbornness to evolve, so here are my ideas on how to make the game more interesting in a not so monotonous way so I'll probably edit this a lot. 1. More interaction between Free Companies, this can be done in many ways. Guild Tournaments, company points, actual company leader boards. A tournament could be so cool. Each company would pay a hefty entrance fee to enter, it would be a bracket layout, each company faces off in a PvP environment until one is the winner. The prize could be the accumulation of all the entrance fees and bragging rights. Free Companies should be competitive. As PvP stands right now its based mostly on you or a lame Grand Company you randomly picked years ago. So throw the FCs into the mix.
Gear/weapon stats and sets. I think it would be wonderful if obtaining a full set added extra benefits. Company gear actually somewhat did this but not in a very meaningful way, just a few extra stats. But you were rewarded for having matching pieces. Special effects connected to gear could augment our already existing skills. More potency, an added slow effect, increased buff duration for a specific skill, the possibilities are huge. But as of now we just have generic number stats. yay.
.The Overworld. If you wander around Eorzea it is quite dead, I do this often when I'm waiting in the DF. I see no new players in the new areas, nobody really anywhere except for Limsa's aetheryte and Idyllshire. There is no solo/party content in the overworld at level 60. What do I mean by that? What if there are level 60 mobs that actually drop meaningful materials and are a challenge to kill? People that are into crafting can get them, and people that are not into crafting could just sell them for a profit. An other idea for Overworld content, and some may realllly disagree but. WORLD BOSSES, I mean mega bosses that are unique to specific areas. Not fates like odin, I mean a big bad mofo that owns that area and is always there chilling. The reward could be like the rewards from odin, you get drops that you trade in for other items, but useful items.
2. I agree with this would be nice to have more options like 2 set for Drks is +25% more healing on Soul Eater and 5 set of the armor decreases the healing needed for Living Dead by 50%, there are so many possibilities just using this as an example set bonuses would make the gear more worthwhile instead of throwing it away a patch later.
3. Oddly enough the only thing I agree with is the world bosses it'd be great if we had some super bosses in this game that drop loot like the FATE in the Dark Dragon FATE (forget which area it's in d'oh!) and would make revisiting the world that much better. It's so odd we've had "super bosses" only 2 of them, I say super loosely because they're both FATEs Odin and Behemoth why hasn't SE revisited the idea of super bosses? I wanna fight Yiazmat or something iconic from the Final Fantasy universe there's so many options and SE doesn't go with them.
These are the 3 that stood out to me the most good points for sure, the other options you listed have been talked and tried again, the only other one i'd talk about is the character customization but you nailed that to a T for me.
