If im right, i think Yoshi said that we might see Derplander being a samurai this time, or was at least one of the posibilities.
I'd even go so far to say it's plausible. It was a tossup between SAM and DRK for 3.0, and seeing as NIN was just added in 2.4 they didn't want to include another Eastern flavored class so soon, so they went with DRK.
... and I'd be fine with SAM in 4.0, as long as it's combat aesthetic is similar to Vergil. (I'll keep to my idiom of running the story as a DRK in my iconic red Chaos suit, but y'know...)

That'd be neat. I'm hoping we only get one new class this time around and if so showcasing whatever it is makes the most sense to help build hype.
Actually, just recently Yoshi-P said in an interview that getting 3 new jobs out for 3.0 took a lot out of his team, and that it might be unreasonable to expect this number from every expansion. That seems to give the indication that there might be less than 3 in 4.0.
I might be okay with this if they add more classes as an expansion goes on, rather than at the start. We have a lot of DoW DPS classes, but only 2 DoM DPS classes, and it's pretty sad. Granted I'd also like to see a DoM Tank and a DoW Healer (Red Mage and Dancer respectively). Add in Blue Mage as a DoM DPS addition and I'd be happy for an expansion. After that, I'd want to see a Caster DPS added each expansion.
There's been allusions to Dancer previously in a live letter. Samurai, Red Mage and Blue Mage are virtual certainties, it's just a matter of when they do it. I foresee Red Mage being a consolidation of the traditional concept with the runic knight, i.e. a fencer of sorts that weaves in black and white magic spells. I agree though, there's a definite need for more caster dps at this point, whether ranged or not. I'd also like to see a healer that doesn't use the aether, e.g. an alchemist that fuses potions. Finally, a tamer/hunter type class, perhaps using whips, although they may reserve that for blue mage. This article has some decent suggestions. A gunblade class is mentioned in the comments, too, which I would not mind.
Also... for the next expansion, I can't see them adding more than two at once. They need to focus on refining the existing classes/jobs as well as bringing in new ones, and three will stretch that. I'd like it if they added something like specs, but I think they're pretty dead-set against them. Although adding 1-2 classes per expansion may seem a lot, this game hasn't got THAT many classes compared to other MMOs, especially when some which have specs effectively are adding an additional class per spec, due to divergence in their playstyles. So there's room for say another 5 jobs, at least.
Agreed on SMN. BLM had some relevance for Void Ark/Mhach, but they didn't make much use of it. WAR may also have relevance for the expansion, perhaps MCH if we go wading (swiftly though it may be) through Garlemald. Samurai if it makes it to Othard.Summoner hands down and no questions asked. My memory is fuzzy but if I recall correctly no other job in the game touches any of the subjects of the main story.
We found out during this expansion that the story from Dragoon from 30 to 50 would have a part to play but the job story from 50 to 60 does nothing for the main story.
The same thing might happen with Monk for the next expansion if we end up going to Ala Mhigo.
It would be really good story telling if the level 50 Dark Knight story mixed in with the main story somehow.

Until it's actually announced, nothing is 100%. Might be interesting though.
I don't know much about either of those jobs, but from what I heard Red Mage is not a standalone job like the others. If that's true, I can't see it being implemented in any meaningful way. Either way, they're gonna need to make the Armoury bigger if they intended to add a number of new jobs. There's been allusions to Dancer previously in a live letter.
