On the upside he was also the one with the newbie 40eso bonus, but that was kinda rough. Dunno if his gear broke once he got in or before (was a in progress pop of 2 min). He did remember he had older gear to wear eventually but still.

Did 60 roulette as a WHM, got Lost City HM.

Ended up with a fellow mentor tank that would do the smallest pulls imaginable, and then suddenly left after the first boss without a word.

What did I decide to do? (Attempt to) FACETANK THE REST OF THE DUNGEON MYSELF. Though the Dragoon would end up taking aggro on single mobs because low MP and Shroud of Saints are a thing.

...It's actually pretty sad that I pretty much had no difficulty DPSing in that dungeon as a WHM even while I'm tanking, until we hit the golems and the last phase of the final boss where I had to switch to full time healing because the normal attacks started to hit hard enough to cancel everything. Says quite a bit about how easy the dungeon is...

Adela Sunstriker and Roscoe Shadow, if you two are reading this, you guys are champs for sticking with my innate need to run into mobs screaming instead of bailing too.

Well let's vent. This happened not long ago.

Get into a Midas 1 (The gobbie elixir drunk) We make it past the fausts, not a problem. We beat the guy down to 75%. My co-healer dies, okay. I ask other people to take bombs while I heal the main tank, not a problem. THEN the AOEs get dropped near us, forcing us to move, and the bombs detonate on most of the party. At this point 4 of them got wiped out. 1 role each, then the other dps dies. Leaving us with 3.

At this point I'm thinking "We're gonna wipe" and I'm healing, playing an AST. I managed to keep our WAR alive for a long time and I botched some swiftcast revives on party members so I missed opportunities. The other MNK geared to i220 still is alive somehow as well.

One by one as the fight progresses I handle the bombs away mechanics, solo. While sprinting to clear the bombs and get out of gorilla form asap to keep the last tank/dps alive.

Several 10%s later I manage to start getting party members up and they're stressing me out by asking me to revive people with the little mana I have (I'm trying my best, damnit). We had a MCH, 2 MNKs, and a NIN. What do I do? Raise the other MNK out of panic. Next thing I see being typed is "WHY DO WE HAVE 2 MNKs?! WHY IS THE TANK STILL DEAD?!" (Oops)

Mind you, I've been keeping the WAR tank pretty healthy during the endeavor of slowly reviving party members one by one. I get the other healer up by the time it reaches 30% and I'm thinking okay this might be salvagable. At this point we've got 6 people up including the other tank, I kinda left the MCH/NIN dead because I forgot about em. (We did beat the fight)

What do I get out of this? Well, not even a congrats or a pat on the back. Instead they're solely focused on yelling at me and calling me bad for not getting the MCH up for mp regen and just tell me to play another class and not heal.

(Apologies for long story but I kinda wanted to get it out there. lol)

lol. I actually worked my ass off between bombs and keeping the tank alive and at the end all they did was attempt to discourage me, some people are so ungrateful for someone who even tried.

Ran a Stone Vigil with a BLM still in the learning phase. Didn't want to hold up the group to give him advice, but did get him to stick around after the end to offer a few pointers. Hopefully one less mage that thinks Fire/Blizzard 3 are upgraded spells that should be spammed all the time. It was a little painful watching him hardcast Fire 3 over and over. I'd like to think I've done my good deed for the week.

Yep, I managed to prove that by keeping the tank alive while the boss was 60% to dead. If done right it could probably be solo healed, even.

There's alway a first time, right?
Well, one of my 'first times' just happened now: Being grouped with a horribly elitist person (AST) in Weeping City.

Right in the beginning of the first boss they said in /a: "Well, B AND A should go down, 'cause my group sucks." 10 sympathy points to you.
When I had the time watching them, they did absolutely nothing. Standing around, watching the other healer healing their ass of (and later telling them "Why don't you heal?"), not even using their cards a lot... But still having the guts to tell other people that they're useless because they don't know the tactics.

They didn't attack me at all, but it was still really annoying having to read their constant bitching about other group members. Sadly my vote kick didn't go through, but at least they didn't get any loot - which they really wanted, since they told us they were running WC for the 17th time today. So thanks RNG!
