    • the namesake: This particular character is named after Shantotto, a Black Mage from XI who was also a Tatutaru, the Lalafell's meta-predecessor race.
    • The Job an where to get it: As the Relic Reborn quest indicate she appears to be at least a powerful Black Mage, enough for the soul crystals to be named after her. Modern Black Mages essentially learn the art from adapting Thaumaturgy, which taught in Ul'dah, who has a notable Lalafellin majority population. In addition, the teachers for Thaumaturges, and Black Mages alike are also Lalafells
The minority part might be true however as Mhach was near Mor Dhona, which I assume to be the center of Eorzea and thus a place where all of the races converge
I just think that inference is no good in this case. Evidence made it seem like Mhach would be a nation of primarily Lalafell. However, we see only Hyur zombie corpses and statues of Hyur in Mhach, or in places where Mhach corpses are found, like Amdapor. For all we know, 'Shattoto,' was a hyur name acceptable by Mhachi naming conventions.

Did you read my earlier comments? I wrote why there are "hyur" tipe zombies. There may be some diferenced between the deveplemt and lore teams. In ortherwords when we are speaking of any time of undead they will always use hyurs.

Thaumaturges and Black Magues are 2 different things. Remember that the arts of black magick are forbidden.

The statues is very interesting that we are alwats finding 2 identical ones. I really think those statues represents the same deities we find on Ulda'h, Nald'thal.

Well, you wrote your theories on it, anyways. Not saying it's wrong, or whatever, but you're no more privy to the reasons behind this than the rest of us. There are a number of possible explanations.

We've been kicking-around a theory in my FC that this maybe this is because Sharlayan may have been founded by the survivors of all three sides of the War of the Magi and that's how the Scions know spells that in Eorzea are considered esoteric and exclusive, like Y'shtola's white magic.

Seems logical to me. It definitely strikes me as the most magically inclined nation we've come across so far in the world, and that's just by the remnants of what they left behind when leaving their colony in Eorzea; the Great Gubal Library, Saint Mocianne's Arboretum, the Anti-Tower, etc... I'm almost afraid to learn what they've got in the Homeland. Though I'd still love to go there someday.

Right. Right, but i really think is one of the more possible ones unless we are given a reason just like the cathedral. It really doesnt make sence that we found just hyur zombies on places were lore tell us there were lalafells or elezens

Actually the name Shatotto makes sense if you understand japanese kana, and lalafells fallow a kana like format.

I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

Consonant germination still exists in Japanese though? That's what those small つand ツ are about.

I am still really interested in Yafaem. Way back when I had too much time on my hands I could post about my absolute love of this world, I noted that Yafaem Saltmoors could possibly be Lalafellin farming lands, as indicated by the brass loach (you need to have fished it and read the extended lore description):
This long, thin, brass-colored freshwater fish is believed to be native to the rivers and lakes of the Yafaem Saltmoor. The thick coat of protective slime covering the loach's body discourages most predators from feeding on the tiny wavekin...most predators, that is, except hungry Lalafellin farmers who consider the brass loach a delicacy.
Now, the fish can actually be found in The Shroud and Thanalan, and it could just be implying farmers in Thanalan fishing up this slimy little sucker - especially since farming in Yafaem doesn't seem likely.

In any rate, many statues in old shrines still confuse me. The statues in Qarn, for example, have nice long tails but don't look like Miqo'te or Auri peoples. :/
