Nothing screams light armor like big heavy helmets, shoulder pads, and waist armor.
Screw the male guy lol. Females wear all clothed. You're applying RPG logic and not looking at the big picture. As for X-2, clearly they are wearing more cloth than plating or armor. I would take a good look at that pic again because Rikku is the true Samurai in that group.

Considering that FFX-2 was mostly fanservice made to show off the girls? Yeah they are more or less wearing "samurai" themed clothing.

Samurai though tend to wear armor that is more between the lightweight armors and the heavy armors their European counterparts wore. Due to a limited amount of Iron being available. Which was why they often scrounged battlefields for weapons they could use, attach to a stick, or smelt down to make new swords. Their armor was made to be able to withstand arrows, but for the most part in single combat evasion was the name of the game. Compared to their contemporary knights, they were under armored but much more maneuverable.

So I would expect Samurai to wear armor that Dragoons can wear while leveling, and like Dragoons when it comes to class specific armor they would sit between the squishier DPS and Tanks alongside Dragoons in the durability category. Unless they were made tanks at which point they would be given heavy armor.

This is a common misconception though, as most full sets of samurai armor weighed around the same as a full set of European plate armor (Around 25kg or 55lbs). Unlike the European plate however, a lot of the weight of the Samurai armor was on the shoulders and made it uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time, not to mention the amount of silk used in the sets meant it became much heavier if it ever got wet. The difference in mobility between the two also isn't particularly night and day, both types of armor required training to move effectively in it, and while the samurai armor likely offered a bit more maneuverability it was by no means by a wide margin.

But that's all besides the point as historical accuracy means little in a game of fantasy.

The female sprite shows lighter armor but still has very heavy gauntlets. Still doesn't change the fact the class wore armor. And yes, applying rpg mechanics in a game that's also an rpg? No way!

And rikku is the true samurai? Lmao yeah you have no actual arguments. None of them are "true" samurai considering none of their main jobs is samurai. You're just cherry picking at this point and it's embarrassing for you.
