Hate to break it to you all but Kotaku wrote up an article signaling that he has indeed stated that the Expansion will be announced at the Fanfest.

That's not right. 3.4 should hit around the end of September. 3.5 will hit around the end of Janurary/early-February. 4.0 will be 3-4 months after that, so May-June '17.

I think it is optimistic to assume that another expansion will come out 3-4 months after the final patch of this expansion. An expansion involves a WHOLE lot more content than a patch does, and so a longer delay is to be expected.

I would guess six months at least after 3.5, before we'll see 4.0.

I hope not. I love HW, but it is starting to feel a bit stale for me.

I'm not really that excited for 4.0 because of Heavensward... Hopefully they can showcase something new with it, but Heavensward stuck to formula too much, stuff like Diadem and FC Airships just fell completely flat... Hopefully Palace of the Dead can be different, and 4.0 can have something like that at launch, but right now I'm not expecting much... I expect they'll just reset everything, rather than keeping up this momentum...

Drop FATEs from 4.0 entirely and give me Campaign/Besieged instead, and I'll be hyped as f*ck though... I mean, a trailer will drop and I'll probably get hyped for the story alone, but if it's just "Lv70! New dungeons! New FATEs!"? Meh...

Well, maybe it is not clear, but, 3.0 was announce at october 2014 too. So, could be.

This. Last xpac was announced at an october fanfest also and while that's not a tradition it did set a precedent I suppose.

5 month difference.

Yoshi has said that they've learned from 3.0 and streamlined the process so they are working more efficiently this time. 5 months again is the maximum expectation. 4 months is probably most likely, 3 is optimistic.
