That's straight up never going to happen because that will literally kill the content. Even if its only once a week, that exchange of 1:1 means all anyone needs to do is run it once ever week. Even with an immense population, the player base for that would immediately die out within the week. People late to the party would be screwed over with even more severe queue times than now. Lord knows when the week passes for that last token you need.
I know we look at having to replay content like this as a bane, but its having to go in again time after time that continues flowing life into it for everyone else not in step.

I can see I'm in the minority, but I have to say I like it as it is. But I do appreciate that I also have everything levelled so I'm also a lot less picky about what loot I get each week.
I've gone through two runs now where I saw only 4 (unique) pieces of gear. Double, double, double, double. That tends to tick me off more than they're being of a type no one can use. Then again, only 1 piece was taken from each of those runs, so those issues are far from mutually exclusive.
That said, assuming some average range of RNG in terms of both drops and competition there is a definite advantage to player choice in terms of how much time to sink into the raid in the current system compared to a pure token system—namely, you can give up and just take something else. If the token system were set to take the average person the same amount of runs for his gear as with the current system, that option would be lost. You'd have the loot you wanted, guaranteed, after X tries, but would be unable to settle for any less at any benefit of time, and you'd lose both those who go for the "just one more" and those who get temporarily discouraged and don't come back to the raid until later, increasing queue lengths outside of peak (weekly) times.
yeah that would be the downside

I don't normally reply to threads, but this one caught my interest.
While I do think that it would be a good idea for a token system to be implemented for 24 man raids - in fact they already do, so giving us something else to spend that Machi money on (specifically 24 man raid gear) would a feasible solution.
But if we were to get a different type of token altogether, I would have to agree with the people who have said that the one token a week think would be good. However, I also think a 1:1 token to piece of gear ratio is a bad idea.
Further, I am of the opinion that different types of gear should require more tokens:
(These are example figures, not meant to be taken as what is truly balanced)
1 token for a head piece or belt
2 tokens for a feet or hands piece
3 tokens for a body or legs piece
(12 weeks total for a full set of armor)
And out of consideration for those end game raid - because lets face it, the 24 man raids are the "easier, but slower" route to gearing up - I personally wouldn't call foul if the above values were raised to where it needed 20 weeks to get a full set of armor, but I would draw the line there.

You don't get a gear drop of your choice by running the content once. That is plain silly and is what the OP is asking for.

Except you do. You just don't get it reliably. Key difference.
I know two people who, so far, got every drop they were going for on the first run each week. Why? Because they got lucky. Now that is "plain silly", is it not? To get gear of your choice by running the content once? Right. And now, how could we fix this silly situation...?

RNG is bad. Good MMO should stay away from it as much as they can.
