I initially had a mean spirited comment to the roleplayer but decided to edit it out since it really served no purpose.
I agree that people should be able to dress up in anything they want........ as long as they meet the requirement to equip the gear.

If you don't, you should. The servers selected as the roleplaying server tradition end up being one of the most populated servers for a given game. Examples: The plethora of RP servers in WoW, Landroval in LotRO, Virtue in City of Heroes, Lumiel in Aion, Antonia Bayle in EQ2, etc, etc, etc.
It's not a coincidence - there are far more roleplayers out there than many people realize.
