PLD has changed my opinion on some dungeons.

I started to train my PLD the weekend just gone. I started training my PLD in low level dungeons since my PLD was level 30 at the time. This helped me to level up as I trained. I kept doing the low level dungeons that I had access to over and over again just to get a better feel when it comes to tanking in a party. I would always warn people "Hi I'm a new PLD in training please bear with me" just to warn people. It was a great experience because players that had their tanks as their main and was levelling other jobs were all amazing. They understood that I was training my PLD and they would all advice me on what to do and not what to do as a tank.

Strange thing is I see dungeons that I have been in as a SMN and MNK which I use to hate and now as a PLD I love them. Right now I love doing Brayfloxs normal mode.
Did this happen to anyone else or is it just me?

Tanking is easy to love for the fast queues and the excitement of being the one dueling the boss. But tank in moderation, because it burns you out quick. The first time you tank a dungeon PERFECTLY but the healer gets all the comms may break your keyboard. Not that comms matter, but it'd just be NICE if people just showed their appreciation a little, y'know? Or hey, maybe if they didn't give you a comm, they could at least give you a thumbs up? Let you know they care??? huh???

I'm still training so I'm not perfect yet. But I do get what you mean if I did a perfect run no one died and I didn't get a single comm that would grate me a bit lol. But at the same time that wasn't why I become a PLD lol.

Tanking is far more involved and you completely control the pace. It compliments players who like to keep their mind busy.

There's mob abilities to memorize. Positioning, raid awareness, snap-aggro, and enmity management. Speed-running techniques to be learned over time. Pushing your party to its limits. Learning different party compositions and what cooldown staggering is capable of. Embracing death as an easily adjustable lesson towards long-term supremacy.

Paladin tacks on a few bonuses as well. Learning what you can stun, silence, and pacify; completely de-fanging mobs with interrupts. Covering enemy focus targets and enmity-ignoring mechanics. Support spells to save those about to do mechanics wrong. Plenty of tools, when used correctly, to prevent wipes that the healer wasn't ready for.

    Enjoy! It only get's better.

Tanking as paladin is easy and if you do a good job, commendations come themselves. Sometimes others do also w good job sometimes people don't care so there is not always a commendation for you. But after all they are just icing on the cake.

The motivation of tanking should be something else, I suggest.

If you enjoy it, keep going and improve until you can tank the hard content.

I even raid Alexander extreme as main tank and I enjoy the thrill of the battle.

I think u just summoned it all up for me, as any other job I get board really quickly and full sleep even when I don't want to inside dungeons. Theirs more strategy as a tank. That's why I love it so much.

What cross class action do you use for your PLD?

Tanking always felt very rewarding to me, you arent there to kill things, but to make sure others dont kill your party.

I'm happy to hear about such a positive experience. I've been leveling up my Warrior slowly, and have been worried about diving into dungeons with him. I've done a few with friends, but I haven't gone in for a completely random duty finder yet.
