Thanks. I'm going to try turning down effects to see if it helps. I already moved to 720p but it's still pretty bad at the large crystals when everyone piles on it. I'm using keyboard and mouse though, maybe it's better on controller. I find the mouse on the PS4 has some issues with accuracy at the highest speed setting. That along with the input lag makes it kinda disorienting. So far I just switched to mnk, which I don't really know how to play but I use they keyboard more for it than other jobs, and I just try to avoid the areas where 72 people gather.

Not knowing the map is definitely a challenge. If you don't know where you're going, then it's a little difficult to take the initiative. That said, learning the map comes with experience. Even Seize's map gave people headaches for the first little while (you might remember the north spawn being a point of issue in the community), but if you can learn to take advantage of the changes of terrain you'll give yourself a leg up on enemies. Personally, the map in Shatter is probably one of the only things I actually like, because it's not nearly as transparent as previous maps. It allows for the possibility of surprise attacks and unexpected encounters ... or it would, if people would actually fight each other.

Regardless, making map errors is not always a bad thing. Running into the enemy means that you know where they are and can alert your team to their position. If they engage you, then you can serve as a distraction or lure. Five minutes of kill the Pld is five minutes in which you delayed the enemy. You could also be the sacrificial lamb that allows your team to get away; or, if you're quick on the chat box, you could also alert your team to the incoming, and lure the enemy into an ambush. You can die doing any of these things, of course, but that doesn't mean that your death was worthless. It just depends on the circumstances, and if you can turn them to your favour.

    That's really odd ...

I run on Ps4 with the default effect settings and I almost never experience lag, dips in the frame rate, or any kind of latency issues. Everything is smooth; and I've never had to adjust anything except to fit my personal preferences. I do use a keyboard (for typing purposes); however, I do not use a mouse. I use a controller; so, I wonder if having a mouse set up is what's causing the problem? I have trouble believing that something so small could be the cause, but I can't think of any other reason you'd be having such a different experience from what I get. If you do find that it makes a difference, can you let us know? I once considered setting up a mouse for faster targeting (especially on healer jobs), but if it throws everything out of whack I'll be glad I never did that...

Tried playing as a melee in shatter 72, it's really really bad. All the teams are scared to commit into each other lest a crystal spawns while you are committed to a fight, so no one fights unless you are a ranged player peppering the enemy or misguided melee players try and actually do something by running into the horde just to die. I really believe that SE needs to scrap 3 team and go for a 2 team model so they can take advantage of modes like capture the flag etc. I mean, it is not like The Feast is based on GC and they've already scrapped A ENTIRE GAME because it was bad. Don't be afraid to overhaul a mode that is already practically dead compared to the active playerbase. Just do it please!

Big crystals spawn every 4 minutes. It's pretty easy to plan along and you usually have a couple minutes between the time one goes down and the next comes up to do something. It's not like you need to commit your whole team to the odd small crystal.

I had to switch to a laptop, which has worse framerate but no mouse input lag. The PS4 was just way too laggy for me.

Anyway, does anyone feel that the south spawn has a disadvantage in that from the center they can't see the ring around their base, so they can't see the animation if someone is trying to sneak cap it? The other spawns you can see from all the way up to the mouth of the chokepoint, but the bottom spawn has a hill in the way.

It also is a tiny bit further from spawn than the others and tends to be capped a few seconds later, which puts the team 4-6 points behind. It's not a lot, but I've had a game finish 1000 to 999 where it is possible it had an impact.

Hi Februs, just curious would you have any tips how to target enemies in the middle of enemy pack using controller without mouse? I play bard on controller and always have such hard time trying to pick up that healer in the middle of packed enemies and their pets... thank you!!!
