You need in total 4 players to newly form an FC based on game requirements, so doesn't that make your 10 player or less purge seem weird. So really you're talking about the people that are in a FC by themselves. At its roots, the purpose of a Free Company is a group of players working toward a common goal. The Free Company creation process includes getting signatures from other players that end up becoming members. That right there shows that this system was never meant for one person. I didn't even touch on the Free Companies that have gone inactive, tying up that particular name. I could only imagine the frustration of someone trying to register their favorite Free Company name and then finding out it has been taken and that company not active for six months or more.

Regardless of their activity, the number of members they have now or ever have, they were there first, they registered their name and it is theirs until they choose to relinquish that name.At its roots, the purpose of a Free Company is a group of players working toward a common goal. To take the FC or name away from one person who obtained it just to give it to someone else because they "need" it or for whatever reason are more "entitled" to it is wrong.

My FC would likely be considered as one of the small ones. But we have kept it small on purpose. Large FCs tend to draw a ton of drama. Drama is much easier to avoid in smaller FCs. We also earlier on wouldn't likely be able to generate enough credits to pay for a tax. That alone could discourage new FCs from being made, and I doubt SE would ever want to do that.
Me and my irl husband have an FC together it's a Christian based FC . Why shouldn't we be able to have an FC and be able to have a house. We been the only 2 in the FC since we created it and are a rank 8 FC meaning we have done all the work for it. We also have 3 airships to. So even fc's with only 2 people in it can accomplish anything. We have been in bigger fc's before and don't like the drama that comes with them. So op keep the hate for smaller fc's to yourself. Because the way I see it smaller fc's have to put in a lot of work to accomplish what the bigger fc's accomplish. So maybe the tax if there ever was one should be placed on the bigger fc's.

Would you like your character deleted if you didn't sub for 6 months? The reason being: someone could want the nickname.

No, thank you.
I like my credits where they are and I like managing a small FC. Don't force large FC complications on people who get their social/raiding fill through LS' instead.
A mentor stole my house, slapped me across the face, and raised my ping from 15 to 30. Literally unplayable.

Do we know if SE has this system in place? If not, I feel we should ask for something. If everyone is so against taxing, then where is the uproar over teleportation fees and market board tax?

What is the point of an FC tax EXCEPT as a penalty to small FCs? You pay the teleportation and marketboard taxes for CONVENIENCE. You do not HAVE to pay them, you CHOOSE to pay them. You can walk/ride to wherever you want to go, the teleport fee is for the convenience. You could see that MB item, try to contact the creator, meet them in person and pay for it.
An FC tax would be MANDATORY and is not the same as the other fees.
Because they serve the purpose of taking gil out of the game? We need them so the market doesnt crash completly.
Your idea and how you presented it is wrong on so many levels:
1) There are FCs that are small for a good reason, as already has been said - close friends, more familiar atmosphere, you name it. You'll either hurt them by forcing another grind upon them or force them to get more memembers.
2) People who're having an FC of their own wont give that up because of a tax - they'll just bite the bullet.
3) as we know now, you've made this thread because you desire a name that has already been taking... if you want to be in an Fc called so-and-so badly, you know, you could always ask to join them... Or... do you want to have an FC of your own...? With a few friends, maybe...?
Also: Maybe be more upfront about what you really want - people might would have agreed with you if you'd said "Hey, can we get a system in place that disbands FCs if no one has been active in them for 6 months?". Please, dont tell us, that we're not intended to play with and in smaller FCs - I couldnt imagine being in a very large and crowded one, that recruits everyone that happens to come their way. Dont punish us for being more... picky and only want to play with a few good friends - just because you want to do the same and are angry that someone got the name before you

Most likely, a small or inactive FC has a name he feels he is entitled to and is willing to burn everyone and everything to the ground to get it. Otherwise, there really is no point to this entire thread.I never said you said your idea was good, but you did make a topic on it, so you obviously see something in it, even if it's not well thought out.
Up until recently, my FC was 2 people large (We are still small with 5 + 2 alts). We have a house with airships. Meaning we need FC credit to run them. Building credit takes a lot of time and investment when you're running a small FC. Imposing a tax would force a small team to work even harder to hold onto what large companies have with no effort. How do you think this is remotely okay?
Also, for that last part, Kogasan probably didn't need to mention what type of FC they're running, but you throwing it back at them is an attack.
