1) Tanks control the pace of the run. The better tanks out there will be able to gauge the performance of the group and will either slow down or speed up accordingly.

2) Healers have second say in the speed. If they ask the tank to pull big, cool. If not, the tank should default to what the average medium pace might be, and apply #1. DO NOT attempt to speed up the pace by deliberately running ahead and pulling mobs to the tank.

3) DPS have no say. Adjust accordingly to either #1 or #2. DO NOT attempt to speed up the pace by deliberately running ahead and pulling mobs to the tank.

If one or none of the above is happening while you are in any of the above roles, then prepare to either put up with dysfunctional bs to the end, you or someone else dropping/getting kicked, or worst case, duty abandonment.
