What kind of friends you talking about? I think I created much stronger relationships in XI (ones that transferred to RL) then I have in XIV.

This.
There is a lot to take away from this, especially if you have played XI.
(Unless things changed since I played it, which was ages ago), In XI, there was no way to just get a random group. You HAD to ask people and make friends to do just about anything after level 15. You needed a strong network. There was pretty much no "solo-play" after level 15.
There was no dungeon or party finder tool. (That I remember?)
And the friends you made became the people you did EVERYTHING with, because there was no cross-server stuff.
In XIV it's too easy to get hooked up with random people you'll never ever meet again.
I would say that XIV is like Tinder and XI is like meeting someone at a bar / cafe / anywhere in the real world. (I've never used Tinder just saying that from what I know about it.)
if you want to create meaningful relationships it's important to put yourself out there and go the extra mile to be friendly / helpful / talkative.
