Uh, no.

Uh, no.
Have to agree with this.
As soon as a MMO focuses heavily on raiding then all that matters is whats optimal and what isn't. It does nothing to help the game at all... Just look at WoW as a lesson if you arn't specced optimally (or even using the "best" spec for your class) then you a shunned from pretty much everything. The community as a whole becomes extremely unwelcoming and toxic for anyone looking to get started.
All this for a small portion of the community? Its a big no from me tyvm.
As for the community we have at the moment yes we have our faults but it's actually one of the better ones I've come across. We are all just one big whiny family that gets on each others nerves once in a while xD
Because he said he was burned out?Just like sitting in limsa and do emotes all day isnt the only way to have fun. Why is it that majority in here screams take a break or quit game op, just because he wants the game to get better? Just like people cried about maid outfit and it happened but people took it for "Free" while jp players had to pay for it. Just an example. Criticism for the game is only good, last time I checked it means someone care about it. Oh Well.
Well that is why I said it... It's really the only solution to such a problem.

Very much. I came from a game that did this.
It resulted in a content release cycle that I can only describe as utterly depressing. And the raiders STILL got bored/began performing a mass exodus from the game due to total lack of content stability (if you didn't go for the top-end gear, you had to replace gear every 3 months. If you had the top-end gear, nothing in the game presented any challenge to you except for the yearly raid, and EVEN THEN progression in the yearly raid could be next to impossible depending on the class composition of your team - and the class balancing in that game had also simultaneously spiraled out of control, to the point where balancing is done on a MONTHLY basis and everyone and their mother is expected to have leveled every class in the game just to stay relevant).
Whenever the dev team tried something new that didn't cater to the raiders (especially since the community has now boiled down to very hardcore raiders with no new blood ever coming in), pretty much everything gets shot down and labeled as worthless Diadem-style.
I poured five years of my life into that game. I was recruited as one of four volunteer moderators for the NA version of that game. And it is depressing to see how quickly it degraded just because the developers made the mistake of listening to a very vocal minority. A minority that I will freely admit that I was a part of.
Be very, VERY careful what you ask for.
