What is with the Bard costumes/armor/gear in early Heavensward?

I just think a lot of the gear in this game is underwhelming and weird. Maybe I'm just used to the western depiction of armor.

And here is where the bard aesthetics become a problem for me. Machinists should have leather jackets, zippers, form-fitting stuff. Not huge pieces of cloth in weird colours.

I'm sticking with my Archeoskin Jackcoat glamour, thank you very much.

I thought they were bow mages, and gun mages...

THe LV 60 Esoteric armor sets, the Machinist and Bard each have their own armor set not shared with the other. The Bard esoteric set does not look like some jester or perfermer, as for the Machinist esoteric set it looks very much like the armor set the Elezen Machinist who teaches Machinist skills at the place where you do your Machinist quests.

Bards in this lore are performers that motivate their armies on the battlefield. Hence the training with the bow.

Dragon age bards also wielded a bow and arrow as bards in that game were trained in espionage and assassination.

Bard gear starts to look more archer-like as you get to 60 xD

I rocked the Amon gear on my bard for a while before 3.0 hit. Oh the days spent farming ST to get that last piece... <3
