Where can I see that list on my server?

Go to the main aetherytes of the cities and choose "Residential" and then choose "specific ward" and you can look at all the houses and who they belong to.

there's also the possibility some might be willing to share their house with you, on the tenant list, meaning you could come and go from it. (if they had the miniature aetheryte to allow teleport to the house itself.)

I believe that requires you to have unlocked the ability to teleport into the residential areas from the main Aetheryte by completing a small quest per city.

Outside of each residential area there should be an NPC that has a quest called "Where the Heart Is" that only involves a few minute's worth of walking back and forth to connect the residential district to the main Aetheryte.

Back on topic, I'm too lazy to count and list them all, but on Diabolos there are still a ton of plots of every size available in The Goblet (I'm beginning to notice a theme...).

The problem is you can only take 1m gil with you when you transfer.

And step into a number of other threads and they'll expound on how easy it is to make money doing a number of activities.

I'm not disagreeing with you on the sentiment, but, when do you ever hear anyone saying "It'll take me forever to save up that gil again!"? Unless you don't really try to make money at all, you can be rolling in it before too long, surely.
