FFXIV Always load in windowed mode

I'm using DX9 (I get horrible framerates in DX11), and here is the hotfix I used to solve the problem:

-Open up FFXIV.cfg (MAKE AN EMERGENCY BACKUP COPY IN CASE YOU MESS UP!!!)
-Scroll down a bit, look under Display Settings
-Check the values for ScreenTop and ScreenLeft
-If either of these two numbers are not 0, change them to such.
-Save the file, reload launcher

Once you do this, it should stay. I haven't had to fix mine since making that edit, and the game loads as it should.

Oh, good! I'm not the only one. I also have it set to Borderless Windowed, yet, whenever it boots up, it seems to be windowed. Switching back and forth between Windowed and Borderless Windowed fixes it, but it's annoying that I have to do it every time.

Just chiming in here - same issue since 3.3, same fix (switching to Windowed, then back to Borderless). A few FC mates have mentioned this as well.

To add a bit more, when I switch to Windowed, my entire game window actually disappears until the setting reverts. Can't alt tab back, nor does clicking the FFXIV icon on taskbar do anything, but when it reverts, I'm in Borderless Windowed until I exit the game again.

Same problem here : ( , wish they could just do an emergency manteinance to do a hotfix, it is kinda annoying x_x

This has been happening to me too since 3.3 hit. Switching to fullscreen and then back to windowed fullscreen seems to fix it, but it reverts back to windowed after logging out and back in again.

Using Windows 7, DirectX 9 mode, GTX 960 graphics card. I have an older monitor, so my max resolution is 1680 x 1050, if that matters.

This alone isn't enough, you also have to set ScreenWidth and ScreenHeight to appropriate values for your display. Apparently the dx9 client now respects these values in borderless mode, but doesn't save them. :/

Can confirm, more is needed than just setting top and left to '0' and setting the width/height to my resolution is a better fix in combination with the 0's
