I love the challenge of this fight. It took me two groups to clear it, as my first group wimped out and abandoned the duty after a couple wipes. The issues the two groups seemed to both have was low DPS on the add phase. The strategy that worked best was to focus down the Shadow Dragon and avoid his cleave at all costs, as that damage down debuff makes it hard to beat the DPS check. After that, it's just dodging AOEs and making sure to stay stacked until he finishes hitting the group.

I REALLY hope they don't nerf this fight, as it has me very interested in doing the EX version and even giving Midas Savage a try via Raid Finder (though that should be an "interesting" experience).

    This fight feels nearly impossible.

    GOOD!

It SHOULD be hard. Square Enix , PLEASE do not nerf this fight, for the love of all that is holy. We're fighting the all-mighty Nidhogg, for crying out loud. I'd rather wipe over and over to a boss until we finally beat him than snooze my way through an encounter with arguably the most powerful villain we've ever faced (thus far).

Agreed. I love that this fight isn't one you can just sleep through. It makes it feel truly epic. I want to STRUGGLE to beat Nidhogg. Rolling over an enemy of his caliber would just be insulting. Thordan being as easy as he was was a huge letdown.

I'm not doing this again til they nerf it. I'm just not good enough for this. I do not find being frustrated fun at all. Lost count of how many times we wiped on the 3 times I've tried it so far. Only thing that sucks is I unlocked it and now my trial roulette is ruined, got it 3 times in a row, wipe fest every single time. Guess I'm not good enough of a healer, but there's just too much going on for me to keep up the constant massive healing and avoid a million aoes. There's no 'git gud' for me, my skill level only goes so high. My mind just can't keep up with everything. This is why I avoid raiding and extreme trials. Too much going on at once. I know I'll get shredded for this, but it's how I feel. Leave the harder content to side content so casuals can enjoy the main story.

My first group disbanded due to lag on both the healers and tanks part. Wound up friending the tank after actually. The second time, both me and that previous tank queued for different ones and we both managed the clear. However that was my only clear. I've had promising runs but unfortunately on the most promising one the OT dced after one wipe... ONE wipe in which we got to the last phase on our first try pretty quickly, the dps was good, and the mistake that was made? not enough people stacked on accident. The group disbanded after one of the healers left for a job interview. Destroyer of PUGs indeed. I gotta run learning parties to help people learn this fight on Mateus.

cleared first time, git gud people. /sarcasm

But seriously, it's a pretty big healer check. As a healer main, this pleases me. I'm tired of seeing lazy healers not doing their job / not DPSing when they don't have to do their job.

I've cleared it a few times now, several in prog when doing trial roulette. No problems. Cleared every single time going in, a few of those times with zero wipes.

If you're healers can't handle it and DPS can't dodge, then..... yeah.. good luck.

Any moment now it will be revealed that WHM is cheating on SCH with MNK after having had DRG's baby and DRG is WHM's cousin who is already married to PLD.

are u tanking ? , because as tank u can survive almost everything (since nothing really oneshots, outside the aoe attack that spams but you stack with every1 , and as tank u are in the middle of the zone mostly so u can mov freely

avoid aoes , move with the boss so u have more time to move away ....avoid "leviathan attack" , u can see the charge when he jumps , and avoid fire bombs (bomberman style) , stack when the aoe pops and thats it , adds are easy u only need to tank one , 1 is free and the other the other tank...

mechanic wise there is nothing new :S , plus is the "end boss of Dragonsong MSQ"...at least needs to challenge the players...

The only real challenge I could name for this fight is the heal check. Almost everything Nid does we've already seen in other content. I was expecting this to be a nightmare after reading so many posts about its difficulty but I went in blind and everything was fine.

If this was nerfed in some way it'd be an absolute joke.

Sad to hear you've given up. It's quite a heavy healer check for a main story fight. Maybe your fc could help you? I would heal with you if we were on the same realm. :L I advice you to keep trying, preferably with the same main tank so the positions are always the same. Most of the time repeating the fight over and over allows you to remember the damage patterns without trying and it becomes easier to focus on other things at the same time.
