So another attempt at Steps last night and the first group had issues followed by a D/C and then two others leaving when they knew they would not get a penalty. WE'd had two tries at that point. (Where is the patience people?) Normal not dodging enough AOEs and thus down on DPS going into the Add phase. Anywho someone did a vote abandon and we moved on.

My second group and attempt to clear was downright awesome! Strong DPS, great MT and the OT picked up the second Add well. People danced through most AOEs and what was left was easy enough to heal through. Even the final phase with my great co-healer went well and it only took two tries to break through and complete it. Thank you for that run, really, thank you. ^_^

Last night I queued for all roulettes with a pre-made party of four. We got the Navel for our leveling roulette. It was amazing. Titan's never gotten smashed so hard. Everything else we got was very fast - pharos normal for 50, pharos hard for 60, hullbreaker hard for ex, and dragon's neck for trial. Dragon's neck was so ridiculous, with half the party off the platform for half the fight, but still carried through easily.

I ran LotA on Warrior and it was hilarious to see all the provokes going off everywhere. I wasnt trying to MT but everyone else sure was. No one got the Iron Giant and he romped through the raid. At Phlegethon, we wiped twice before people decided to do mechanics.

Doing Final Steps as an extremely squishy BLM, I dodge Nidhogg's flame fly-by. He lands.

3500~ damage (20% parried)

And now I can't stop laughing at the sheer mental image of my tiny catgirl character somehow parrying a dragon's touchdown with a staff.

But oh, Final Steps. It's funny. Everyone talks about the DPS check, but absolutely no one ever mentions the healer check that comes in the form of Akh Morn. I have seen so many healers who somehow think that their DPS takes priority over ressing me. DPS get shat on constantly for not meeting the DPS check, but nobody ever blames the healer for not being able to heal past Akh Morn even when all the DPS have done their jobs properly.

People keep saying I have to dodge AoEs. I dodge them just fine. The thing that kills me most of the time? Deafening Bellow. The healers have several seconds to just throw Medica out, but nope. I do what I can to help with DB, throwing out Manaward, but there's only so much that I can do as a BLM, and these healers would rather just DPS and then blame me for dying when they could've prevented it with a single heal.

I had the same thing happen on my BLM, was at 20% for the longest time got killed by the landing, no res at all then Ank Morns hit and more people died.

I was running Haukke HM on my WHM via 50 roulette, the bard was new, but the run was so smooth. Then we got to the last boss, I explained that adds have to die as fast as possible, and off we went. First two add phases weren't a problem, DPS was nice, then the third add phase started - and ended immediately. The boss devoured the add before we could even hit it, causing the aoe after that to wipe us. DPS was too nice.

I just... How on earth did we skip that last phase, I have never seen this happen in a sync party before. We made it in the second try when I stopped DPS after the second add phase, but... just... wtf.

I've seen it skipped on sync when I'm pushing my healer DPS, combined with strong DPS DPS.

This has been a thing for quite some time. I remember having to ask a SMN not to dot up the boss on, I think, my second run of Haukke HM ever (this was in patch 2.55) because of this.

Too bad this line of thinking doesn't last very long, after a month you'll soon get the "veterans" wanting the run to be done in 20mins or less with no mistakes and if a new person is in the group the "veterans" will leave instantly because after a month even new people will be expected to have read up on everything because the "veterans" aren't here to teach people. ¬__¬

Because history can't help repeating itself :/

From what I've seen, I'd change that from "a month" to "a day or two at best".

I had people jumping down my throat because I went into Sohr Khai blind at 10 AM EST on the day of the patch.

On topic, my first time at the Final Steps of Faith. The setting of the fight is incredible! The mechanics, if you wish to call it like this, are a festival of totally obvious AOEs we've all seen somewhere already, and people still mess up, we needed three tries because people weren't able to dodge AOEs although their pattern was the same every time. Over and over and over again. ;_;

It doesn't mean they're bad per se. I'd like to give peeps the benefit of the doubt and assume they know the boss can be pushed too fast and therefore tone it down when they know an add should be popping.
