I wanted plot 19 at mist, and was one of the first on the server. However, sleep deprivation and nerves, I clicked on the wrong aetheryte crystal site, and by the time i teleported, then teleported to the proper one, someone was already grabbing it. I went through 3 wards with the same results, and the houses along the beach all being grabbed. I managed to get plot 21 at ward 11 seconds before someone else did. Mist was full in minutes of the servers coming online, at Leviathan. With Lavender close behind, followed by Goblet. I was at the computer all night, but happy I was able to get an oceanfront spot.
The people buying them up to flip for huge profits to desperate players, make me so mad. They really should restrict the number of houses one account can have. I know someone with 3 medium houses and 3 smalls, between theirs and their rl fiance's account. However they are keeping them strictly for themselves. But still... >.<
Error 1016, error 1016, error 1016, error 1016, error 1016.....
When I finally got in, my first choice was taken as was most of Lavender Beds. Someone in an LS announced that Mist was a goner. Saw that my third choice was available, raced against a Lala to it, but was a second too slow on the placard. At that point, I realized that I couldn't afford to be picky and just ran towards a random available plot and bought it. Not the most scenic location but it is close to a marketboard.
Heard the Goblet was pretty much uncontested for fifteen minutes.
I couldn't agree more. Houses should be restricted to one per account, but even that wont stop them getting two currently. Assuming they start up an fc, and get a personal house too.
As for me, I was lucky and got on to Shiva without a queue, and secured the medium house that I wanted. However, after about 10 minutes all houses were gone in Mist.
It was one mad land rush.

I was so scared to miss this chance, that I bought one pre-patch for 7m (including the payment for purchasing the empty lot). Sucks that it had to be this way but hey, I got a houseMy FC and I spent 3 days furnishing it and had so much fun. It took us 1 year to raise 10m between my sis and I. It was all we had, and it's since gone lol.
I really like the fact that we get to live in a public neighborhood, as opposed to instanced housing, but I know something must be done to address the issue of the many homeless people in all of the servers :/
Yes, I caved in to temptation and got myself one of the remaining small plots at the mists yesterday night for 2,8m before calling it a day. Literally too broke now for the actual house though, haha
Anyway, there are still a handfull of small and ~1-2 medium plots in mists, a good number of all sizes in lavender beeds and at least two whole wards in goblets available here on Lich. Playing on a smol server has its pros at times, heh
There are still a few in Goblet here on Sargatanas. I grabbed a small house there and even had time to gather the gil and wait for two price devalues. I know there is a medium available behind my house right now.
I had plans to buy one but there was no concevable way given the queue on Balmung once I got back from work. The housing system in this game is rather impractical anyways since it is effectively a land rental more than an ownership, so someone is spending upwards of millions of gil that can magically vanish without a trace and no way to recover it. That's a tough pill to swallow when other titles out there let you keep an instanced house indefinitely without any problems.
I get that people want to have a house to show off to others, but what is the point? Who do you want to show off to and why do they need to see it? The only reason to really have a house in a public area is to advertise the FC's capabilities and to encourage getting more members, but if that is the case, it would make more sense to have a way to show off those features at a capital city rather than an instanced housing zone. Right now, the only people who would go to the housing zones at all are FC members wanting to use facilities within the estate, and they already joined an FC so why would they even care about some other FC estate outside of housing arrangements?
The entire FC Housing system is one big waste of time that the development team probably could have spent doing something that would have benefited all players mechanically. Mog houses from FFXI were practical as they provided gardening, let the player post their trophies, acted as extra storage, etc. An FC version of a mog house would have served just as well as what they got in the housing wards right now, without having all of the unnecessary clutter, purchasing queues, and rental mentality that we are dealing with now.
But yeah, this rant has happened already about the housing system and we are still stuck with it a year and a half later. The apartment system coming out later may rectify it somewhat, but that remains to be seen as it could just be another rental system instead of an owned room. That's something I don't think anyone wants.

I am desperately hoping the apartment system will not be just oneroom like the FC chambers... I know I have my hopes to high, but I want it to be tier apartments. Like one might be a one room loft then you can have others that would be a two room ( equivalent to a small home but small room sizes) and a three bedroom ( almost big as a medium home but not quiet)
Probably asking for to much but man... if apartments were like that. I'd love it.
