Ridiculous Housing

Firstly, this thread should probably be in the housing section here.

What happened this morning on Balmung concerning housing was ridiculous. Seriously, fifteen to twenty minutes this morning and every house was sold.

First come first serve, and balmung is the most populated server in all of NA. While it sucks, if you really want a house, you can swap servers, or deal with what you are dealt. As it stands, SE can't cater to everyone, and on a sever with almost 30k people, they don't have the server power apparently to support that many districts.

Why is it even possible for one person to buy more than two houses?

Its not. 1 character can not own more than 1 house, but a person can own more than 1 house, on his account. Alt characters allow people to buy multiple houses.

You know, this could have sounded a little less harsh if you didn't use the terms, "first come first serve" and "you can swap servers or deal with what you are dealt."

First off, swapping servers is the most inconsiderate option to give someone. While yes, you'd resolve the issue of no longer being homeless, it doesn't add in the consequences of you having to leave behind friends on the game. Not to mention the gil limitation for when you transfer would also be an issue and you'd probably lose out on your gil because you'd have to play it by the marketboard hoping to make your money back on items you had to buy prior to transferring.

The housing situation was indeed a depressing matter for people, like myself, who couldn't get onto the server fast enough to purchase a house. This situation has made people salty because of the fact there are people out there buying up plots and reselling them for more than what they are worth. SE made plots from all servers more affordable for those of us out there who have been wanting a house. However their means about doing it are messy and therefore result in things like this to happen.

Personally, I feel like personal housing and FC housing should be separated. I feel like once you own an FC, you should be given a house. Small at first, but be able to build and expand it. That way the person who made the FC don't feel discouraged having people leave their FC because they lack a house only to join an FC that does. An FC should be restricted to 1 house only, however when I was on my old server there were FCs that had 3 or more FC houses after they released personal plots.

As for the personal housing, I feel they should implement a system to where we can reserve future plots. This recent release of housing wards was absolutely horrible. By the time I logged in after being in queue for over 15 minutes, all the plots had been sold. SE should do something on the MogStation (or in game) to where, if you have the gil, you can reserve the plot of your choice for when future wards (or current wards) have that plot available for purchase. That way the plot is in your name and guarantees you a plot without the worry of someone coming in and buying your plot before you get the chance to log in yourself to buy it.

While many may say it's ridiculous to be upset over a house in a game, and to "deal with it", I'm sure if you were in the shoes of the people who do care about housing, because it's a special aspect of the game that lets us be creative in something unique - especially if you're on a server like Balmung where a house would be nice for gamer interaction be it for roleplay or for just talking in a place that isn't in the public.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't most players have to transfer just to get into a server like Balmung? Has it been considered that maybe the prevention of creating a character on the server may be in some small way tied to housing availability? If the server were completely closed when "full" and forced players to start populating some of the others, maybe this problem could've balanced itself out.

Given the assumption that you had to actively make the choice to transfer to an already over-populated server, I'm left feeling like this is simply one of the consequences of making that choice.

I don't have a reason to baby it. It is how it is, and balmung is THE most populated NA server. There are pros and cons to that choice. Pros: No shortage of people to help with things, lower market board prices due to more crafters, and more ways to make friends since more people. Cons: things can be limited, like housing. Money is harder to make due to prices being gouged more easily. I don't know what else to say about it, its a shitty situation.

I did because I didn't think it needed a comment, but since you asked.... SE has stated its a bannable offence, so go ahead and report the people selling plots, and just remember its a bannable offence to buy plots as well. Its a double edged sword and wasn't entirely thought out on SE's part but you know what, we asked for it, people kept pushing for personal housing and they gave it to us. Now that everyone can't have their own house, its pandemonium. I say shit happens. Not everyone can have it their way.

People shouldn't be owning several homes on a single account. Too late now.

So I'm not allowed to have multiple houses on multiple servers?
