Hate to break it to you, but in this market 3.7 mil for a house IS dirt cheap. My small house cost 6+mil, I bought it the first time they added subdivisions. There is no free housing, nothing in this game is obtained for free unless it's your inn room. Frankly, nothing in life is free (but that's another lesson).

FC rooms cost 300k if you just want something to decorate. Heck, we got flower pots now. And I doubt Ishgard will be free either.
If you REALLY want a house, start using that crafter. Or farm some primal for crafting drops and sell em. The primal crafted weapons need items that only come from the fight! You can even look at the MB to see what is selling, then search the actual recipe to see what is needed so you can kill beasties for the ingredients. And send your retainer out for MORE of those ingredients. Possibilities! \o/
The price of the plots will slowly go down as they remain vacant, but the reality is, you won't buy a house for anything less than a mil.

They're not only not expensive, they're far too cheap.

You can easily make gil without crafting or gathering. Retainer ventures, esoterics, weekly Mhach, and now Aquapolis. These are just the ones off the top of my head.

Why are houses so cheap is what I want to know.

One thing I started doing when I began playing this game about 6 months ago was saving up for a house.
I had enough, but there weren't enough houses. Was so excited about the housing update because I'd have the chance to use the money I had saved just for this occasion.

But all of the houses were gone in less than 5 minutes.

If you think not having enough money is the problem, you'll be surprised. Saving up enough money is something only you can control.
Finding an empty house...that is the REAL challenge because there is pretty much nothing you can do to find one. It's all about luck.

I'm just waiting for Personal Apartments now since I gave up on Personal housing. Also Personal Apartment will be instanced and unlimited in supply.

It does not remove the Personal/FC Housing issue but at least there is a alternative that can be obtained by all players if they want to put their gil into it.

Depends what server your on. House prices are in three world tiers depending on how much gil is on that server.

I've been trying to save for a house since last year. And I have calunairy at level 45, Boternist at 16, mining at 16, archmist sorry about spelling I can't remember the spelling and what level it is. I l try to make my money from food but it's like no one buys food any more.

No one buys the food you able to make anymore, otherwise people still buy food.

They won't be buying lvl 45 food. Lvl 50-60 would be your best bet. Crafting/Gathering food is what I would focus on. Any battle class at 50, will most likely buy HQ 1-3 star food. Same with Lvl 60.

If you get your culinarian to 50, you can take up the glamour quest in mor dhona. (I think you can do this quest on culinarian, some one correct me if not). Then you could get weaver or leatherworker to 30, you could make glamour prisms and probably make some real good money. Alchemist, Carpenter, Blacksmith, Goldsmith, and Armorsmith make them as well, but weaver and leatherworker are the most popular prisms. They just require a clear prism that you buy for like 200g and two class specific items.
