I'm really sorry for your FC. I also think that FCs should own the main ward, and that FCs should be a priority. But there are players that aren't satisfied with a tiny room. Some of us really like customizing stuff and aren't that much social. There are people that want some customizable space for RP purposes and things like that. The system is broken, yes. Except it IS a mistake, and it IS promoting greed. I'm not saying everyone who wants a personal house is greedy and doesn't deserve it. I'm saying the current system promotes greed (by letting people own multiple houses) and leaves Free Companies in a position where-- while they're the ones who benefit the most from housing-- they cannot get any housing.

So, yeah. In that sense, the personal housing system IS a mistake. They should've thought it through instead of implementing it the way it is now.

That's not to say the system wasn't already flawed even before personal housing was introduced; people could already make FCs on all of their characters to get several houses. Their biggest mistake was to expand on a flawed system without fixing it first, thus making the problems worse and creating more issues.

Without any personal houses at all you run into another issue. People kicking others out of FCs to customize the houses like they want and not compromise about looks/access.

I filled up my house with all the things that would be too "girly" for our FC to globally accept. You could always transfer to a less populated server if having a house is that important to you. The smaller servers have lots of houses left.

Yeah, no. I won't ask my whole FC to change servers. This is the most irritating and overdone "advice".

Even if I was on my own and looking to get a personal house, I don't see why I'd even be expected to move out of a server I've been in since beta when newer folks from smaller servers are free to transfer freely to the overpopulated ones.

Just to add to this, people who buy personal houses for actual use are not greedy and quite frankly people calling such personal home owners greedy is insulting. House flippers are greedy, that's true but people who buy one for actual use are not. I get it that they are bitter and angry over not getting the house they wanted but stop taking it out on legitimate owners of personal houses which wish to invest both time and gil into making it an actual home. Especially given they often share it with their loved ones or friends within the limit of how many SE allows on personal ones. It took years for me to finally get my own small house which I only just got this month but in all those years I never insulted legitimate house owners who are not out to scam or rip people off, ones who actually make use of their home and make it a nice home for them and/or their loved ones regardless of whether FC or personal. Insulting them just because people are frustrated is not the right way to handle it.

Personal housing was promised before FC housing. If I recall correctly FC housing became a thing because SE underestimated the impact housing would have on their server infrastructure so they made FC housing to let people rent tiny little rooms from their friends who own the FC and therefore not require SE to add as many houses in general to combat the infrastructure issue. Truth is a lot of people do not like FC rooms because you lose both your investment and a lot of your items if kicked out. You don't own that FC room, you rent it not from the game but from other players and can be kicked out at a moments notice by those players, anytime without warning. At least with a house under your name you wont lose it without warning and without reason given, if lose it then it is because you broke the rules (house flipping) or never used it for 45 days once reclamation is restarted.

I personally think SE should of gone down the path of instanced houses rather than wards but if we are stuck with wards instead of instanced housing then should of made a personal housing set of wards and a FC housing set of wards plus I think people should be limited to one house...however people need to stop insulting personal house owners who are not flippers just because they are frustrated and want a target for their anger. Personal house owners are just taking advantage of what they were promised, if want someone to blame then blame the scammers who just buy to resell or SE for their lack of investment in infrastructure or going with wards instead of instanced housing which could of potentially allowed everyone to have their own instanced house with small plot of land.

First, no one is calling any specific person greedy. You can't blame people making a general statement in order to make a point for making you feel all gloomy because you decided to take it personally.

As for housing, you've got it backwards. SE first introduced FC Housing. Then people asked for a personal space, so they added personal rooms in FC homes so they could have a personal place to decorate. Then, when that also wasn't enough, people started asking for private housing, and the mess we have now came to be.

That's kind of the point I'm trying to make; Personal housing was implemented in an obvious rush to try and please players. They should have thought it through and worked on their infrastructure first, and then, as you said, introduced an instanced housing system for personal housing. They probably didn't because people wanted it NOW, and they knew it would take a long time before they could rework the servers (they still haven't done it...and it might be another year before they actually do).

Wards are entirely unnecessary for private housing; people don't want them for the neighborhood, most of the time. They want a house to decorate, and a garden to tend. Wards are great for Free Companies, but individuals are not at their house often enough to have a need for a neighborhood.

Again, no one's blaming house owners (at least, I'm not?). I'm more frustrated at the player base demanding things and leading to this mess in the first place. That's still far from blame, though. The only ones responsible for this mess are those who implemented it. And are keeping it that way despite knowing about it. And they'll be losing people over this, which is ironic, considering that means even less money for them to do what they should have done a long time ago, now. Hopefully, they'll learn.

Im sorry but I wanted a small house for a lot of reason being one, I like to garden but I refuse to make expensive seeds and plants at my FC house because other people could grab them and I would lose them, if this makes me greedy so be it. Yes the house system is broken. Like I have said many times, wards should have been for FCs and instanced houses should have been made for personal housing.
