my download was going so slow 5 hours for 35 percent. so i stopped the download opened the FF folder found a file called uploader clicked it and a box came up asking if i wanted to allow this program i said yes and the dowload worked fine after that i know you guys have got a fix now, but its something u can try in the future

You can't put it in the folder where the game is installed, as said in an earlier post. My game is installed in
C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV\

To get the updater to use the downloaded patch, i had to put it here:

C:\Users\*name*\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV\downloads\ffxiv\48eca647\patch\

In case it means anything: I use Windows 7 64-bit, other versions may have different folders.

Tried to download this link and got to 90% complete when an error occured and stated "D2011.10.04.0000.patch could not be saved cause file location could not be found" any ideas?
