I actually kind of wish they'd say if the new red scrip gear was pure red scrip or token equivalent. I'm going in to 3.3 with 60 tokens each and 0 red scrips.

It's hard to believe, that they would use the same tokens for the new gear. Maybe they will raise the cap from 500 to 2000 and allow the new gear to be purchased directly with Red Scrips.
Or they will add purple Rowena Tokens.
I haven't seen anything about a Thursday maintenance yet. I know this was the case the last times, but who knows. They might add everything on Tuesday... probably not.:/

Crafting/gathering stuff being on Thursday has been the case with the past several patches, ever since they introduced weekly limits on crafting/gathering. They apparently did not want to have the weekly resets all be on the same day, so they delayed the crafting/gathering update from Tuesday to Thursday.
I am merely assuming that they have not changed their minds on that particular issue,
It seems you can now exchange your red scrips for Goblin Cups that are needed to get the ilvl 200 trade-in gear (together with the ilvl 180 gear), so you should have saved your red scrips.
On the other hand, you can now change your red tokens into blue tokens and get all the ilvl 180 gear much cheaper.
Yup, you're right. The new items will be added on thursday.
It's a bit of a letdown actually. While converting red tokens to blues and lowering the prices of the splendor gear to half makes it a lot more affordable, I was sort of hoping to upgrade the stuff out of the gate. Oh well.
And seriously those counterfoils...
Sure, would have been nice. But very unusual. I have about 400 red Tokens across my four chars. I usually spent about 100-200k for 9 red Tokens (by buying all the mats). Now I can Exchange them for 9 grade IV materia. That's quite okay if you ask me. Grade IV control materia for 10-20k, not bad. I guess the market prices will fall quite a lot with this update.
In Coeurl Grade IV's are around 100k each at least. At least now the prices will drop to more realistic levels.
There should be a new thread and not have full info buried in here imo
That sound you just heard is everyone switching to alc specialist
