I'm not sure why we gender-locked gear at all. If someone wants to play a cross dressing muscular roe that flies like a ballerina I'm not about to tell that... strange person to do otherwise.
Lightning doesn't exactly wear the official uniform anyway due to her rank, she wears a variation of it, its close but not the official thing.
Don't see whats so bad about her version on males anyway, wow it has mini shorts and belly button on show.
Maybe my character has a cute belly button.
Stop right there, please. ^^; The Thavnairian sets do not have equal type models. It's another of those Female/Unisex pairs (since the "male" variety is not locked to male). So it should be included in your priority list, and not in the "let's deal with it later" list.
Um... From what I can tell, there are just as many adjustments to be made when making male sets unisex, since you need to account for the chest vertices (if that's the term) being very different either way. For male-to-unisex, you need to potentially fit in a bra in case the piece shows too much chest, and for female-to-unisex you need to remove bras if those are present, or make said bra look more like a tight top. (As an example, the male miqo'te hempen top would qualify as such.)
I know they have stated that it's "more difficult" to fit female gear onto male bodies, but from my viewpoint it seems that the largest hindrance is mental. We're not used to seeing men in "female" clothes, so it weirds people out. And that makes many people unable to look at a piece of gear and think, "Yeah, that fits just fine on a male body as it is." It becomes, "That just looks weird, how can we change it so it doesn't look weird? Can we change it so it doesn't look weird?" And instead of the gear being converted pretty much as-is, more time/effort is spent on making it "more masculine" than they'd spend on making a male-to-unisex gear "more feminine" for female characters.
This is just my personal theory, but that's because I just can't see how it could be that much different and more difficult to make the conversion one way than the other.
Most likely, they're not going to make the skirt look the same and either make it full-length pants or some kind of shorts, but... why change the boots? ^^; Personally, I think this game needs more boots. Especially ones not locked to a certain class/job. (Or race/gender, for that matter xD)I would be fine if they made Lightning's outfit switch sizes and such with male and females, like males get a version to make it more masculine. Longer pants and maybe the shirt wont show the lower belly. Keep the cap the exact same size. Also maybe shorten the boot height.
Edit made![]()
... It's like most all female character here never tried having male character so they don't know what it's feels like having limited glamour gear unlike female that can wear best man jacket and thavnairian bolero... AND 2 SET OF BUNNY SETS!![]()
