Why do I have to complete *all* vanilla story quests to get to HW content?

The MSQ is a benefit to you, it is how you level up in the game without having to rely on dungeon queue times or FATE grinding. While you may not get tons of EXP for doing it, you will get valuable higher level gear which was the equivalent of how we "leveled up" after capping our jobs at 50 during ARR. Tons of gear has come out to increase your power and they can't just give everything away because that's not really how games work. Alternatively, they can't just dump you into the heavensward areas after you hit level 50 because you're vastly undergeared for it and the deer in Western Coerthas would wipe the floor with you. I suppose you could buy the gear but most new players aren't sitting on huge stacks of cash to just keep buying their way forward.

Each time I see a thread like this I'm asking this questions and I never got an answer so far, but lets give it another shot!

Why do people want tp jump to weeks and weeks of farming two dungeons and one raid content (which splits into 4 parts, granted) so fast? Why is THAT so appealing? What does the constant, repetitive grind has to offer that people come here to complain about having to play through the story in a Final Fantasy game, mind you!

Please, OP, explain THAT to me. Explain to me why you dont want to play the game you want to play just because its telling you a story instead of sending you off into the grindfest that is the so called "endgame"

Because bumping old threads without relevance is frowned upon. Plus we must make new threads to get attention to ourselves.

Well, how did you "hit 50 and finish the base game's story quests" without realizing that the game has been locking most of its content on that story all along? Why would you have expected that to suddenly change? This is a story-driven game, and it's been a story-driven game ever since you started it.

Oh, and just as a head's-up, don't expect it to change after those ~100 story quests either. Heavensward itself has the continuation of that story, and it's still going to be a story-driven game.
