So basically we have to dump all "dated" items into the trash can and buy all freshly crafted items?
Afraid so, just imagine all the people who has the wards full of "dated" items, and even worst, those who just bought new high lvl gear a couple of days ago (like myself), just to find out that now is totally useless.

Though there may be a little ray of hope, MAYBE the dated gear we own can somehow be used in the materia process to craft better gear. Lets wait and hope for better.
