They're half elezen half dragon.
clearly they're the legacies of Shiva + Hesvgrdkksh.
I want to say it won't be us who eliminate Nidhogg for good. Rather, I think it'll be Midgardsormer that'll wind up banishing Nidhogg for good.
I vote for that goon's death. He really had that coming to him. Many people warned the poor idiot but he was too smug listen.
Plus we really didn't lose that many characters
People are acting like characters are dying at the rate of Game of Thrones.
My prediction is that Estinien will live at some cost to himself having stopped Nidhogg or fought back to regain enough control to allow us to remove the eyes from the dragon form and thus freeing him. Alphinaud will play a big part in that as he is the one to "wake" Estinien within Nidhogg enough for it to happen. Aymeric is probably going to die as he keeps saying that he wants to have dinner or a private talk with us (WoL) and that it is really important. That alone to me signals possible death though it could be stopped by a subordinate like Lucia getting in the way. Then the WoD team come in and steal one of the eyes to power themselves up while Estinien takes the other into hiding to prevent its loss and we go after the WoD and the Ascians... This also puts Aymeric alone and in control of the nation and preserves the new alliance with the other nations but means over time he will regain some of the old habits Ishgardians have about outsiders.
Or something. ^_^

Well it might not be Game of Thrones but since the start of Heavensward this will be our third major ally to die, not counting Minfilia who I'm not convinced is gone. There have also been a number of secondary and minor characters who have also died or who's stories have revolved around love ones dying. There has been a fair number of deaths. Certainly we have failed to save as many people as we have actively saved.
I don't think Aymeric will die, simply because there isn't anyone set up narratively to take over his role in Ishgard and Ishgard isn't in a state where its going to come together without someone who is respected by both the nobles and the commoners and I doubt we will be walking away from Ishgard with it tearing itself apart with internal strife. I mean even Aymeric got stabbed trying to bring Ishgard together and end the Dragonsong war. It would make all our efforts in 3.x rather pointless.
