Just because humans are biologically disadvantaged when having kids with someone close in the family tree doesn't mean other animals/creatures will be.
"Inbreeding" may not be a problem for dragons.
Can't remember the source, but one of the loremasters stated specifically that Dragons asexually reproduce (which is why Middy was able to bring 7 eggs out of nowhere and a mother is never mentioned at all; he has no need for a partner to get kids); partners aren't sexual (well, not as far as reproduction is concerned anyway), but extremely important to them. "I'll do anything for my brother/sister" kind of love is the closest thing I can think of to describe it. We'll be getting more in-game lore on it eventually (maybe with the Moogle beast tribe quests)
But yes, Tiamat's Brood is not Bahamut's, just like Hraelsvelgr's is not Nidhogg's is not Ratatoskr's (speaking of her, what happened to her Brood anyway?)
Also, if you remember the dragon quests at Anyx Trine (and the Vath dragon quests) there are never two parents with the young dragons; its always either a mother or a father, and they never mention a second parent.

I um.. cough*neverdidthose*cough ahem*
I just saw Midgardsormr's brood and just thought well, he's like, God so. No point in questioning how. shrug*
The Blue Dragon Triple Triad card suggests that Dragons evolve to a great extent during their lives. This is hardly surprising. Even in Dragonkind we see distinct yet related types such as Wyverns, skylords and of course the traditional dragon. Even then Dragons vary a great deal in elemental leaning. This could be due to changes that happen as they grow more than genetics. In such a situation I doubt inbreeding, even if it did exist, would be such a big deal since the dragons would rely less on the inherited genes.
That said, I could see Bahamut's brood seeing Taimat as a mother figure. After all we see in just the partnering relationships that with sex not being an issue it is more about the feelings of the respective parties. I wonder how Hraesvelgr's brood saw Shiva?
Nooo... Why does everyone hate on Alphinaud? When did it become cool to do so? He might not have started out on the right foot, but he's been good to us since and proving his worth more and more along the way. Besides, a death is supposed to have impact. The only ones who want to see him dead are the same people who wouldn't care about it at all!
I do agree about Estinien though. His pride was his downfall. He was always on a single-minded mission to destroy Nidhogg, and in the end he became the very thing he sought to defeat. Life is not without its irony, but I feel he'll be paying the ultimate price for his own sins.
