I will be joining the onrush come June 7th to purchase a small house, but I wasn't sure if location is restricted by whichever GC you are aligned with. I am currently max rank in Maelstrom - am I restricted to personal housing in the Mist or can I look elsewhere?

The only minor thing to note with Personal housing and Grand Companies: The GC crest that is displayed on your Placard or Company Chest is that of the area that you are in, not the GC you are a member of. So if you are in Maelstrom, but living in Lavender Beds, your house will display Twin Adder crests. It is a very small thing (that won't even effect you if you don't plan on having a Company Chest in your house or a Placard outside), but it still might be worth considering.

Of course, in FC houses, the FC crest is displayed on both furnishings.
