Chocobo leveling?

I recently came back from a 2 year break and besides changing the color of the chocobo are there other leveling tips or upgrades am missing? I am at level 59 but my trusty old chocobo is like level 10.

To have it go higher than level 10 you have to stable it at a stable of your FC or your own house and feed it a Thavnarian Onion. Once you do this it can level up to 11. When it reaches the max XP for 11 you will have to feed it another Thavnarian Onion to get it to 12. You will need to repeat this process for every level above 10.
