3.3 Hairstyle Pictures

Me, I honestly don't care if hair clips a bit.

It's not even about clipping. Have you seen some of the current longer hairstyles move? It's, uh...looking really really awkward. I suppose it works with caster animations, buuut...yeah.

I like all but the first one. That style just never tripped my trigger. Looks like a parody of Grease.

That's what I really don't like about it. That it looks like a parody. If they wanted to make an actual pompadour style, that would be cool, but it should look more like:



Instead of that, we get this over-exaggerated caricature that's just parodying the style.
(It's sort of like when we got the afro, but they made it look more like a clown wig instead. I don't like that one either.)

But oh well, at least the other new styles look nice.

It's an ANIME pompadour, not a real pompadour. In fact, they went a little easy on this one...

To be fair SE will have ripped it directly from the stereotype that persists in a lot of highschool animes of the delinquent who often sports pompadour hair or something similar.

As the exaggeration of it is how its portrayed in anime.

I'm pretty sure they used male characters for it so we can know it's for both genders, as oposed to using mostly female character leaving room for doubt. So I think you're safe.

I'm familiar with the caricature depiction in a lot of manga and anime, and you're undoubtedly right that that's where this comes from. In a work who's depictions involve a lot of caricature (as these manga and anime often do) it can work. I just don't think it fits well within the artistic style of this game, where character proportions and facial features are going for a more realistic look (despite the fantasy elements tacked on). Here, I think a more realistic depiction would have fit better with the game's overall aesthetic.
