I get that crafting needs to be kept relevant to some degree (and it already largely is anyways), but forcing it into a questline designed to award a BATTLE CONTENT ITEM, is only rewarding to either someone who alone crafts, or the player that does both. If you simply prefer battle content (or rather dislike DoH content), this really puts the screws to you.

LOL sorry this part cracks me up. In a time long long ago, before WoW dumbed down the MMO genre, crafters' main purpose was to craft battle armor :P

I really don't understand why people just can't accept the fact that the anima weapon isn't meant for the faint of heart. If you don't like to repeat content, then don't do the relic quest. Go do void ark and get a free tier 5 materia, then you can pat yourself on the back because you got a really good item w/o having to do very much.

This alone is one of the reasons I haven't been logging in much during 3.2. Seriously, to all the people in this thread that actually play the game. If your not raiding, and your not crafting, and your not doing relic..... What exactly ARE you doing when you play? Because the way i see it, there isn't that much to do besides those things.

Which is why it is so important to have ARR beast tribe quest. Those quests sped up my 200-210 phase to where I had that phase done within 4 weeks of playing only 2 hours a day.

Beast tribes are good, but yeah that step is ridiculous. Took me like 3 months of casual farming.

Darn scholar relic being the only good weapon for the job. :/

I'm almost done with 79/80 but the crafted items are still so darn expensive... Once I finally manage to buy all of the items, I don't know which relic to finish as I had 3 zetas. Yea, I had 3 zetas in the time it took me to farm all of this stuff... crazy eh? So if I upgrade one, and it turns out to be the wrong one, I am screwed. Had this step been considerably easier, I would have no problems just finishing off the other two. As others have mentioned, this step has the feel that it should have been present at release but they noticed that they made mistakes in Gordias so they held it back.

Gordias... this is going to be come legendary as a mistake of mistakes. I'm just waiting for it to be used in mems... "Dude, you really gordiased the heck out of that".

Don't buy the items outright, that's silly. Get the materials yourself and have a crafter make them for you via party finder or something.

Even buying the materials if you don't have a gatherer would save you a lot.

Do the Beast Tribes. Seriously, it's so much easier and less time consuming than Alex. Alex has been a terrible source of the items since 3.2 hit and even before then. I have one finished relic and enough Unidentified items to complete two more (waiting on 3.3 to finish them, because the worst part is the FATE grind) and only got about 5 of my Unidentifieds total from Alex runs.

I would recommend just skipping the FATE quests in the Tribes as well. That should speed up your Beast tribe quests significantly.

I had fun while doing Relic. I actually enjoy playing the game so that's all I did. I played the game normally and ended up with a 210 relic after 2 and a half months. Each day I played the game I had fun doing what I wanted to do.

So, raiding isn't for the faint of heart. The "easier-but-grindier" Relic isn't for the faint of heart. And now literally having to run something seven times (once weekly, assuming not raiding) on top of the old 1000 tome cost (which was gated into a 3 week span already, thanks to caps) also isn't for the faint of heart either? I'm sorry but you really kinda missed the bigger point made before. It's not about doing as little as possible to get something. It IS about having to do it repeatedly for one thing, THEN having to go back and do it AGAIN for the relic (IF you so choose to do it). Or would you say it'd be perfectly fine to just tack on another unidentifiable item step and push people to run Gordias (not Midas, Gordias) again? I DID say they had plenty of opportunity to do something different, and they just simply didn't. Are you saying that's okay?

Helping other people with running things/catching up, leveling other jobs, leveling an alt, PvP - both the Feast and Seal Rock, building up a new FC, spending time with friends, making videos, and enjoying aspects of the game that are fun without a grind. . . What was that about "not for the faint of heart"?

What I have been doing for the relic grind is just doing my daily dr prioritizing the ones that give poetics beast tribe dailies and getting involved in hunting parties. Also do maps I think the dragonskin maps ha e a chance to drop some of those items.

They do, dragonskin is for the ore and wyvernskin is shells.
