With either the equation he used or Dervy's, the results would have come out the same. The issue is with his simulation; it's essentially a solo dummy parse, showing that 10% off cast time adds as much damage as doing 20% more damage per spell.

You'll get about 12% more damage from extra casts and that boost to thunder DoT tics, but the only thing he has giving that extra damage is Thundercloud and Firestarter procs. Something is wrong with his code.

I've been doing some playing around and if you meld 2 Pie 5's you can get F4x2 F1 F4x3 and go to B3 no problem for the first 2 rounds of Enochian. Without Ley Lines and without Convert. Threshold for this is the number 10,960 MP. Wait for the mana tick before you go into F3. Only going to work if you start with B3. You's probably want 310 to make it happen. As a Hellsguard and the 35 bonus I sit at 318.

And this is only if you pumped all 35 of your points into Piety as well. Which for me is 351. I only put Pie 5's into the right side slots.

That is as far as I would go though.

Only the first 2 cycles if you have 310 Piety or higher. You can get a 3rd set of 5 if you use Ley Lines on your 3rd cycle.

At 311 Piety you can get that extra F4 in, but you'll be waiting for a MP tick after your B3, and you need to make sure you are at max MP when your F3 lands.

If you do go down the Piety road, don't use your 35 bonus attributes on it, that's just bad.

It's really a matter of if you want to go a Piety build if you think the sacrifice of 35 points of Int is worth it. Otherwise you can probably keep your 35 Int and still get the 5 F4's with melds on right side stuff.

I mean if the F4 is all you care about you shouldn't need the 35 bonus and you have 261 Piety. Meld 5 Pie 5's and you get a gain of +55 Pie. 261 + 55 will give you 316.

Since I stack crit on my BLM I never really notice the difference in a loss of 35 Int. Plus I just love knowing with 350 Pie I'll have 4 F2's to cast as well as in most cases a rotation with 5 F4 per first 2 rounds of Enoch with no Lines or Convert and still have just enough MP to cast a B3.

I should let you guys get back to the stat weight discussion before we segue too deeply. one last quick question, how much piety do you go for if you want the guaranteed t1 (in the situation where you are not getting the opportunity do that t1).

Has nothing to do with Piety. Most just feel stacking Pie isn't worth it over another stat. It's just that by time you get 5 Fire 4's off in round 2 you'll only have enough time to B3 and B4 to refresh enoch. But if you want to guarantee T1 for each round you could go a 5 4 3 setup:

R1: F4x2 F1x1 F4x3 B3 T1 B4 reset
R2: F4x2 F1x1 F4x2 B3 T1 B4 reset
R3: F4x3 B3 T1 B4 reset
R4: Either do whatever your want here or reuse Enochian to reset your spell chains

You'll need at least 8 seconds of Enoch to go through B3 > T1 > B4.

I just like Piety builds. And I like building around rotations in situations where Convert and Lines are gone.

I only went 5 melds because I knew on the 5th meld with the 35 bonus putting me at 351 I could extend my AoE rotation by an additional spell. Instead of 3 F2's I could fire off 4 and still have enough for Flare. I just don't know if we can get anything else out of increasing Piety. I imagine the MP costs would make stacking any more a waste of gil.

If you went full Pie with 18 slots(Armor+Weapon) you can have 12908 MP. You could possibly get maybe 6 F4's but wouldn't have enough MP for B3. Because after that previous spell you have 180 left. And you need 265 for AF3 B3. So personally on Pie for spell basis the max I would shoot for is just enough to hit that 4th F2.

But obviously other stats won't be as high by using that slot for Pie so it's up to the individual. So if you only care about the extra F4 then the 2 Pie 5's should be all you need.

Edit: You could use food to boost yourself up more but I prefer to be self sufficient without it. And the highest Piety food Spiced Cider is a rarity.
