As a healer, I have only run out of mana once or twice in Expert Roulette. It was because both the tank and DPS were under-geared and not using skills properly. For example the DRK didn't have Grit on....
This caused not only long drawn out fights but also the necessity to heal the tank instead of being able to DPS.
I use my MP regen skills as much as possible. Even going into a boss fight at less than 50% MP is no problem in Expert Roulettes, unless the other members don't know what they are doing or under-geared.
Just in case, I carry an ample supply of MP pots.

(Although I really do hate going into the final boss fight in The Vault without full MP. Not Expert Roulette though.)

The only time I have a problem with the tank pulling tons of mobs is when either:
A.) They can't hold hate and everything comes after the DPS or me.
B.) They die faster than I can cure, even with increased spell speed.

If I am doing absolutely no DPS and using everything I have to heal the tank and they still die, then it's time to change the strategy. MP is very rarely an issue.
If I am spamming holy and things are still not dead, I will notice my MP getting dangerously low. I'll stop using Holy and switch to something else.

Sounds like it was the dps fault for being bad.If you're a healer and you have a Warrior in your party you should always be prepared for the biggest meanest pulls possible.
It's against the Warrior code to play any other way.

Maybe it was just a tank that didn't use cooldowns? Though if they didn't I don't find that their health plummets that fast. Maybe that's just me though.

I often find benediction is really good for trash mobs, especially when I get dps happy. you don't even need to take of CS for it.... like that's so lazy friendly!
If I'm lucky I can use around 3-4 benedictions throughout the dungeon. Not like you really need to save it for any of the bosses.... they hit like a wet noodle. If a tank is about to die during one of them then I dunno what to say.

Do you regen and medica 2 during big pulls? Seems to give a lot of breathing room.
And if you're on AST - A.Benefic, A.Helios, and collective unconscious plus synasty? I don't even have to worry about the tank dying


If you have trouble just let your tank know. People can't read your mind or know if you're having trouble unless you speak up.
Most tanks got used to getting to butt-clenching low amounts of health with dpsing healers so I assume they know what we're doing

Pretty much this. I do probe at the start how well the group plays. But I like to get the biggest possible pulls without eating from the floor.

one of the most important dutys for a tank when running with randoms is 1º check what dps you have, 2º check the dps speed and healing hablility in the 1º pull, 3º take pulls according you jugment about the other 2 points.

for healing perspective is the same but the diference is do dps or not, sometimes dps is not the answer.

But I use benediction on trash pulls all the time when it's off CD lol. It means I can stay in cleric stance the whole time and just heal the Tank to full at the last second. Though if the trash is taking long enough to kill that I even need to use benediction then I'll probably hate the DPS not the Tank lol. If I'm using more than benediction and tetra on trash then it's a really bad run.

I apologize as a healer that there are so many other healers out there who want to watch netflix while repeatedly spamming that cure/physick/benefic button and not exert any effort in any way. Any healer who doesn't mind putting even a shred of effort in it won't mind as long you're using CDs and actually take as little damage as possible/avoiding what's avoidable

I love big pulls. For me it is actually satisfying to have to care about shielding, healing AND dpsing the most I can.
Most of small pulls I don't even need to get out of Cleric Stance.
