I see most higher ranked players with around 430-ish, but that's not counting how much the acc drops once the gear is iLevel capped in the arena. My BF who plays drg says it's around 380 minimum for melee dps. He doesn't miss with that unless he gets flashed. Ranged dps has a lower acc cap apparently. (The number was figured out with experimentation, so the cap may be a little higher or lower than this.)
Some Ilvls sync better than others too.

Welcome to any team based game on the planet where you associate with randoms?
Get good friends and play with them.
There's actually a fairly easy way to avoid this; Don't play. The game does try to match you with players in a similar ranking, but if it can't find any it'll use whoever, so I've been able to predict crap matches now. The moment that average wait time jumps up, I'm being paired with unranked players and I just leave the queue for a while.
Perhaps this is purely anecdotal, but typically my average wait time sits around <5~6m, actual wait time can go in excess of that, but I can't think of a single case where those waits have resulted in unranked pairings or particularly bad matches... Meanwhile, sometimes I notice that average wait time jump up into the 11m or greater range, and those matches have almost always been with unranked players... Wait times vary for time of day, data center, and role of course, but this seems like a fairly easy way to identify and back out of poor matches.

As random as the matchmaking is its still so easy to reach top 100 on the NA data centers Aether and Primal. Those two data centers are the only two data centers where players in the 800s in rank points are still showing up within the top 100. Everywhere else you need 900+ to crack the top 100 and most of the JP data centers require you to have at least 1k points to be top 100 material. Never would have guessed before this just how much less competitive NA is in PVP compared to the other regions.

If you want to reduce the luck factor roll as a Dragoon, Monk or Machinist. Good people playing them usually carry a team the best.

Yeah. I was trying to carry as healer, which I thought had the most carry potential.
I was wrong. Very very wrong. OTL
DPS seems to be the way to go. Most top ranked players switched from heals to DPS as well. So, yeah.
If your good at melee go melee. they have the most influence in matches.
380's too low, I've been playing melee since slaughter and experimented a bit. 390 leaves you with 100% accuracy when you have no blind. With 385 I've missed here and there - every hit counts in PvP.My BF who plays drg says it's around 380 minimum for melee dps. He doesn't miss with that unless he gets flashed. Ranged dps has a lower acc cap apparently. (The number was figured out with experimentation, so the cap may be a little higher or lower than this.)
