Yup i remember, i'm an old school XI player...used to play on Fenrir server and then transferred to Hades, and i was a dirty Elvaan to boot lol.If for some reason the padjals become playable they would have to be a different tribe for the Hyru, but Im pretty sure this wont happen because theres not enough for them , Lore wise, to start adventuring and risk their life. LikeI said earlier there was a similar thing in XI where a cat race was only playable as a girl because their male counterparts are scarce and it wouldn't make sense if the rare males risk their entire races continuation just because they wanted to go adventuring.

Honestly I would be pretty underwhelmed by playable Padjal as a race. Literally just "Hyur with horns" isn't very interesting at all.

Why one race?
One of my favorite NPCs is Hilda, a Hyur/Elezen hybrid, if you will.

I'd like to see players be given the ability to create such creatures as playable characters, perhaps with the risk of the outcome not being exactly as we might like. I play mostly Hyur and now Au Ra, and I'd like to see how a tall, tail-less Aura might be made to look.

Padjali aren't going to be playable. There are only ever a handful of them at any one time.
Frankly I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a new playable this time around - they didn't do much with the Au Ra in *this* content cycle, and I think they'll be happy with the existing player-level models they have.
4.x is almost certainly going to involve a move toward Ala Mhigo and the general direction of Garlemald, though. The real question is what areas we'll get beyond Gyr Abania. My personal money is on some of the areas just beyond the land-bridge being playable, but we'll see.
Always remember, please be careful.

I wanna know when we'll see Sharlayan proper. Their tech is supposedly good enough that the Garleans don't wanna go after them directly so it should be pretty good stuff.
I could see Widargelt showing up in the final 3.0 patch and depending on if the Player has done the level 50 or 60 job quest they will get extra dialogue and I do agree with you that the WoL going to Ala Mhigo, is going to be to either free his friends (those that played 3.1 and 3.2, know who I talking about) or the Empire is near Gridania and we need to repel and take back Ala Mhigo, because Ala Mhigo being part of the Alliance will make it harder for the Empire to start an invasion.
About the new companions for WoL. If the rumours are false (Yoshida said that players wont require to play 3.0 to do 4.0) then I want to see Alphinaud return as the companion for the WoL. Alphinaud has been the main companion after the level 35 Titan quest (the one where you find a old friend who happens to own a airship) untill now. If the rumours are true and 4.0 is a different branch of the storyline after 2.0, then I can see Alisaie going with the WoL as the companion. I can see Raubahn playing a big role, but I wish aside from few quests that he will not companion like how Ysayle and Estenien were. This might sound weird, but I rather have Ilberd as a companion.
3.0 was great, because it recreated the magic feeling of the hero and his companions going on a journey, 4.0 should try and improve this.
As for the new race, I rather have add Viera as we know and love or a whole new race that is not midlander + some animal trait.

If that is what Yoshida meant with players wont need to do 3.0 to play 4.0, then I see no other option then a time travel. Its not like time travel is a new concept for a Square Enix game. Time travel has also already happend in FFXIV, since the WoL of 1.0 went 5 years into the future. Maybe at the end of 3.0 we found out that Ziodark has won and the key to preventing this is to travel few months (depends on the time spent between 2.55 and 3.4) back in time and prevent that certain thing from happening in Ala Mhigo.
I could see the player meeting Papalymo and Yda there, like how we met Y"shtola and Thrancred in the HW route. I wouldnt be suprised if the WoD played a major role in this time travel story.

I wouldn't mind seeing something like this...SE could even revamp and add more features/update the Character Creator in 4.0, this is more of a wishful thinking than anything else, but if they did do something like this they would make a killing in their selling of Fantasia Potions on the mog station. Why one race?
