How much is out new gathering gear (in 3.3) going to cost us?

Maybe it's not as much of a problem on Japanese servers or something - maybe people are much more willing to help each other out in gearing, and are willing to make gear for one another, but I've yet to find a circle of gatherers and crafters out there willing to scratch each others' backs on NA servers.

I play on a Japanese server and I know that a lot of people will craft gear completely for free if you have the mats. I sometimes see people in Party Finder offering to pay gil to someone if they craft something for them, but I will craft for free if someone has mats and I'm not doing anything else at the time.
And I've had friends and FC members craft things for me for free.

Actually, when I first joined the server someone friended me and crafted all my gear (HQ) until level 30 or something and I never even asked them! They just sent it to me in the mail! And they asked for nothing in return.
I felt so bad and immensely in their debt, I decided to raise all my crafts to 60 so I can help other people the way I was helped.

I once asked another friend to craft something for me, but he DCed while crafting and lost all the mats. (It was a 3 star level 60 recipe). He offered to replace all the mats and craft the item again! I am greatly in his debt for his kindness!

I think a lot of crafters are generous people. Perhaps not make whole sets for other but if you explain that you're a new level 60 and can make this material, but not that other one, and you have all the stuff, people'll probably have no problem crafting that to HQ for free for the newbie. For when you're starting out and can make, say, ada ingot and the MH/OH for your carp but not the astral lumber, and the like.

Asking FC crafters or the crafters who hang out in Idyl can be a huge save on your money -- and, hey, it's good networking for the crafter. A couple minutes of free work can pay off. If you get a reputation for being a nice, good crafter who doesn't rip people off and who knows how to craft, you could get references from the crafters you help. I know I give the names of fellow crafters, who helped me out when I was a fresh 60 starting starred crafting, when someone shouts for X specialist who can do 1 ~ 3 stars and it isn't something I can do.

Sometime people are confused by Nice Crafter
Someone asked me to craft à 3* recipe which is hella easy
And provide absolutly all HQ comp
I did the craft and wish good luck and still... He was so surprised that I don't ask for gils that he insist to pay me...

I usually charge depending on the mat comp... The more the HQ the less you pay
He gave me 100% HQ comp and cluster... How could i make someone so Nice pay for a basic rotation i do...

So most of the time I got paid when I don't want to XD

Passionnate Crafter are usually Nice and do not do it for gils

Yeah on Ultros there are many who craft everything and anything for free. I would believe this is the norm. I craft because I enjoy it not for the gil, the mb is where I make money not the people I help out. Look at the crafting forum one of the threads I believe on ragnork (sp ) a crafter made 60 sets HQ crafting gear and is giving them out to new crafters.

How much you say? If its crafted, too much. Given our med/low population server Brynhildir, the stuff is likely to cost over 6 million Gil a peace for months on end. Even more if the items needed are rare or limited.

If they give us 2 options, one set crafted and the other from scrips, forget about the script set because in the long run you will need to switch it out for the crafted HQ set. Its a mistake they did with the crafting set as of 3.2 that is very likely to happen again.

If the items needed for crafting are easy enough to obtain but they bar it to specialist or 3star crafting, forget it, over 6 million Gil (at least on my server) a piece.

If you can gather for the items then get ready for some time gated, low gathering time availability and multi-star gathering, favor related nonsense that will make you give up hope on getting the new gear unless you truly like gathering. If this is the case but have little time for play even with some serious time management, then get ready to sacrifice other aspects of the game for it; a mistake they are likely to make.

You can probably see the negative perception I have for gathering and crafting because every single thing related to it this expansion has been terrible for the majority of us. In an attempt to get us to give the game more subscription time they make it a long, tedious process that is more likely to lose us than hook us. Especially where crafting is concerned.

Oh well, just my two cents and hoping for a miracle.

The red script mistake
Is in fact an enhancement of the previous thing they did

The ilevel 70 ugly green stuff they did was the same
The one you could exchange to talan with simple 2* token (or 1*)

The thing is that one was released late after the 4* stuff and was aimed for casual Crafter that would like to reach basic 3 star crafting

...

Here they released it in the same time
At first look, it seems good but no materia = hell no stuff
Again red script are aimed for casual Crafter

In my FC i'm the only master Crafter, the closest is red script stuffed and struggle on almost all craft XD
(Hopefuly i convinced him to start crafted stuff to reach 3*)

If someone is full red script there is no way that personne could reach the 3 star requirement (without beet soup)

You're a gatherer, there shouldn't be a cost?

Just get the mats and have someone make it. At worst, you'd have to tip.

So on my server, 25-30 million a piece for each piece of gear

About 10m per piece on my server. If you want crafting pieces too then good luck with spending a cool 100m for everything.

I personally use IW for crafting and red scripa for gathering. I invest more on crafting since it tends to be more restrictive.
