No Pokémon 20th Anniversary collaboration??

Why Yokai Watch? I know it is literally EVERYWHERE in Japan because I saw it when I was there in Matsuyama, Osaka, and Kyoto (my girlfriend lives in Matsuyama and I was visiting her). Pokémon has a lot to owe to Final Fantasy. Elemental attacks (Blizzard, Fire Blast, Thunder), items (potions, revives, etc.), and such.

For a Pokémon collaboration event, we could get the three Legendary Birds (Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno) as flying mounts, have minions (Kanto starters Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charmander, Mew, etc.) and weapons based on some Pokémon. The possibilities are endless. So, Pokémon or RIOT?

The relationship between level 5 and the xiv development team is really quite good from what can be seen, and this likely came about as a request from level 5 than something that the dev team pursued. Game freak/Nintendo have no interest in xiv, but there is a precedent, that if the same pieces had fallen into place with that company, then perhaps we could have.

Having said that, I wish we had gotten a Ni no kuni event instead of a yokai watch one. While I love the amount of content this event has, thematically, I feel that ni no kuni fits more with a fantasy environment

As Lambda already mentioned, the connection between SE and Level 5 is pretty strong. Level 5 even helped develop Dragon Quest VII. In contrast Nintendo only localized the DQ games after SE thought they were unviable in the west.

At the same time, Once cannot forget that Nintendo and SE would also have a connection as well, being the console of choice for the first 6 FF games, the first DQ games and spin off of both titles and Kingdom hearts. But the connection is rather strained by the fact that there were no FF numbered titles since VII. Plus a Pokemon crossover would be just as ridiculous as the Yo-Kai watch one

Disney has a strong enough connection to SE that a Kingdom heart event would had been feaseable...if not for the multiple licensing involved and the possibility of Hydaelyn losing to darkness regardless of the Ascians or not (after all, there were no FF worlds in KH, only characters)

Regardless, I'm still looking forward to the event

I always under stood it being that "a lot" of bridges were burned down between Nintendo and Square at the time around the format release for the N64. But that the issues went further back into the SNES and currently is a thinly spun relation ship since early-mid 2000's. Aside from that I can't think of or narrow down enough Pokemon minions to match every job in FFXIV.
