Alternatively, instead of adding in lines of code that, in all likelihood, will introduce some ridiculous bug, you could....

Take the aforementioned advice and turn off spell effects.

Turn off your sound, in game or otherwise.

Move, either to a new town or new location in town.

Learn to consciously ignore it.

Swap to a job will a skill like that and join in the fun.

...no, wait, never mind. Those are all stupid. Much better to ignore reasonable solutions and force the game to change in order to suit a vocal few.

There is no point in letting people spam things like Holy, Unleash, or whatever other annoying abilities people have to use. Please take away our ability to spam in towns, thank you.

This would erase like 60% of my playtime though =(

Pretty much. I mean, I don't like when people spam on me either while I'm doing difficult crafts. I find it extremely distracting. For that reason, I do difficult crafts at my FC house or my personal house. Before I had those, I'd just find a secluded area to craft in.

Me being easily distracted is no reason to completely take away skills in towns.

I see you're a master of cherry picking, rather than addressing the actual problem here. The point is it shouldn't be necessary. If I'm in a queue waiting to do a dungeon, it means going back in and re-enabling all of the effects every time. Why should the player be inconvenienced because of a single spammer?

Just make it a blacklist feature and we can all be happy.

Except that people that actually know what the function is for don't need to ever toggle it back on. When you're in a queue, you're pretty much only ever going into party content. Turning off combat effects for people not in your party only ever might hurt 24 man content. Otherwise, it's pointless having the option enabled.

It would be nice to have a separate option in the settings to turn off the effects only in the towns tho.

Uh huh, and what about alliance matches? Yup, it disables those effects for the other two teams as well. Look, you can pretend your magic bullet works flawlessly or we can admit there's a problem that has an easy fix.

How often do you actually pay attention to the other two party's AoEs and flashiness anyway? Like, why are you so occupied looking at someone else's pretty flashes than focusing on the duty? Seriously, the easy fix is to adjust those settings. I would like to summon my pets before going into duties. I would like to draw my cards and get an expanded Balance ahead of time. I would like to be in my tank stance ready for the duty. Fists of Fire, Wanderer's Minuet, Huton, Kiss of the Wasp, Aetherflow; so many abilities that would save time and convenience by being readily available in cities. Why should everyone else be inconvenienced just because you want to live your own princess life of no noise and lights?

If other people's actions bother you.........go hang out somewhere by yourself? There. Now you can have your peace and quiet and others can be spam happy with their abilities and have their fun.

Oh how I feel that there will be an incoming, "But I like hanging out by this particular spot and I don't wanna go somewhere where people can't see how incredibly awesome I am."

and turn off sounds for other players

Wow, suddenly you no longer have a problem. We often have the tools to fix things that bother us ourselves, but want our ways enforced over other people.
