Then you report them and they get an even longer ban from a GM. I don't know why people are defending this behavior, I personally don't have 2+ hours to spend trying to run a single 30 minute instance. I understand the initial queue time, that's not my complaint, it's the fact that you end up having to re-queue because people decide to commence the instance only to leave the second they load in. I don't really care about the reason for it, it needs to be punished. It's super easy to withdraw when it commences the ready check, there's no reason to say you are ready when you aren't.

Again, if it's an emergency thing then you don't need to be playing anytime soon anyway. Even then, I can guarantee the percentage of times that it's actually something serious is less than 1%.

Increase the penalty, and you will simply see more people unplug their ethernet cord to escape dungeon runs. They will never punish someone for disconnecting. Because it is difficult to weed out a true connection loss event vs someone intentionally disconnecting, and SE will always err on the side of caution.

The solution isn't figuring out ways to punish people. It should be figuring out ways to incentivise people into completing the instance. What that might be, I wouldn't know. That's why they pay Yoshi-P the big bucks. It's his responsibility to figure that stuff out.

And you only discovered this in the 15 seconds between clicking commence and entering the instance? If so, you should go buy a lottery ticket because you would have a better chance with that.

Still a valid excuse for GMs, the 30 mins penalty isn't mean to be a punishment for ruining 30-40 mins of your day, it's meant to stop people from spamming DF until they get what they want, and it's doing that job properly.

Why do you want to force someone who clearly doesn't want to be there? Raise the penalty and people will start to troll, or only press 1 skill the whole dungeon until you kick them, or not heal at all, or not use flash/overpower ever, think about the whole situation, even if they leave, a longer penalty wont give you a party replacement anytime faster.

And finally, there's already a thread for this in the first page http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ng-as-Intended.

A roulette is just that, a roulette. If you can't handle a certain dungeon that is in the list, then don't queue for it. It's really that simple. If it isn't an issue with not liking a certain instance, then you have no reason to be commencing in the first place. It's worse for new players, because then they can't advance in their storylines and begin to dislike the game. The longer penalty isn't to give me someone faster, it's to prevent people from just dropping instances and doing something else for 30 minutes before re-queuing. 12 hours means you might not make it before daily reset, or at the very least it's enough to make you not want to drop an instance.

I really don't care how they approach this, so long as it's fixed. 12 hours was my solution, but of course anyone will argue any idea on here. I'm simply sick of people wasting my time, that's all. I shouldn't be constantly punished for people not wanting to play an instance.

The real solution to your problem is a in-progress only roulette that will only ever pop for content that has lost a party member and thus have more people readily available to repopulate groups as they happen.

I'm guilty of this, but only when I get Aetherochemical research facility without a newbie bonus (so every time).

    I'm sick of that place.
