The single exception is the Slaying crafted Earring. If the 1000HP is not needed, then its superior in terms of DPS over even the Midan Fending Earring. You can clear anything with everything.
Vitality and Strength grant .45 attack power each. (.9 AP per 'point' compared to everyone else who gets 1 AP per 'point')
You can't 'overmeld' primary stats anymore. (Green slots okay.)
Tanks in general have lost close to 20% of their attack power compared to before. (Give or take 2-3%)
This leads most to meld Strength onto vitality accessories.
Parry is still garbage.
It's generally accepted that it's not worth giving up Vit for Strength based on secondaries.
Guess I should have emphasized more with keeping up with melds, which I did mention. I'm @ 227 now but my base AP is 1008.
And before anyone mentions it, getting materia is both easy and cheap now. No reason not to keep up with melds.
I would argue wars are actually the best MT's in midas savage, but most wars don't want to MT.warrior is the weakest tank out of 3
so weak that no matter how good their gear are the drk and pld is still the tanking the boss and not them
please SE, buff warrior, give defiance at least 15% damage reduction bonus, if not give the curing magic from defiance upgrade to 35%![]()
expect to use the enmity combo quite a bit more, see your damage halved or reduced, your lifetapping or self healing is reduced to half of what it was, you wont be able to tank out of tank stance anymore, youll want right side vit meld them with str, left side doesnt change its always been tank gear, have fun with double long runs in fractal or any dungeon.
You can definitely still tank outside of tank stance. Dungeon length is only slightly longer and once you reach 225-230 you'll be back to where you were before.
It was the same for me. I say was because with STR melds on accessories and food buff, you easily get to 1050 AP with that ilvl now.
The fact that we can have two main stat in our accessories and have a buff from food helps us catch up to the dps (though by now they should be at around 1200/1300+ AP
As a leveling tank (got Pld to 60, working on War right now), I am missing some endgame experience, is there a reason why Wars don't want to MT? As far as I can tell they're more then capable. Or is it just they like to DPS more then to tank?
Fell Cleave...that is all.
To elaborate...if you have a WAR and a non WAR, the overall damage output is going to be higher with WAR in the OT position, especially with an opener that hits around 1800 dps. This is pretty much fact. Even more so with a DRK who can do more damage *theoretically* as MT than it can as OT.
But as far as capability, WAR can easily MT with no problems. If I go into DF and see another WAR then I gladly offer to MT if they don't want to. Otherwise its almost always assumed that I will be OT if one of the other tanks show up.
2 Main reasons why WAR is usually the off tank:
1) In the beginning before WAR had received its class overhaul, PLD was a superior tank in most every way that counted and so it became the games de facto main tank. Even now that all three tanks have been made viable, people still have it in their minds that WAR's are too squishy to main tank and so they let PLD/DRK do it.
2) PLD and dark have skills that trigger on block/parry, making them lose some of their kit while in off-tank position. I think the only thing war loses is the damage reflection that comes with Vengeance.
