Yeah, but the problem isn't with it being too fantastic to be fantasy. The problem is with the style falling outside the style of the rest of the actual game that we have come to understand over the past year. An issue with artistic continuity.Right but at the same time, people should be able to accept things outside the realm of our universe's possibility because it is Fantasy. It doesn't have to follow the rules of our world, that's the point. It might and there is a certain level of believability sure but things can be a bit unrealistic and still fit in with Fantasy.
It (kinda) works with the ifrit weapons because they come from parts of ifrit. (I would have preferred he dropped his horns or something and then we could craft the weapons so it doesn't seem like weapon parts just randomly pop on his remains, but that's probably not possible with untradable equipment). They just clash with the style of the rest of the weapons, looking like they're made with actual world materials and taking upon themselves classic designs from around the world instead of the monster hunter glow sticks we've been introduced to.
When they release more primal weapons, it will feel like its own thing and fit in better with the world, but for now, it's just a little awkward.
For me.

She's right, give us more pauldrons the size of watermelons. And tabards, and swords within swords within guns that shoot arrows. Just because people find the weapons to be unappealling doesn't mean that it's not a fantasy game. I don't mind the Sword or the Axe or anything. I just find the H2H and Bow to be repulsive.

people want realism in this game, which is okay, but if you look through all the FF games theres certain things which are just not ever gunna be realistic.
examples:
shiny glass ball of materia summoning a meteor and destroying the world
being sucked into an alternative reality through a book
gardian forces
ALL SUMMONS
gun blades - (i CANNOT emphasise the logistic madness behind this concept, although its pretty freaking awesome)
ohhhhh lets not forget one of the big ones, some random dude encased in crystal STILL ALIVE.
my point? well they all fit into the storylines and because we didnt have a medium on which to excessively complain we simply accepted it as part of the story and got on with it.
yes, that was a subtle hint lol
the weapons, art style, story, much like the changes to the games core, is NOT under our control and is viable to change as and when SE sees fit.
personaly, i an unbias on the weapons, i neither like nor dislike them. i simply accept that they are what they are and for whatever reason what we have seen is the idea SE chose to go with, so please, show some love for the hardwork they are putting into this and well...i wanna tell people to get a real life but that'll probably get my post deleted much like 50% of my posts lol
OK, so people mainly seem to have issues with the H2H and bow. I still don't see the problem. Maybe they are a bit bulky, but that doesn't mean they aren't realistic within the realm of XIV.
Let me explain. Who is to say that the horns weigh anything at all? They come from a freaking GOD, after all. Holding an Ifrit weapon might be easier than holding a r1 weapon. Also, as for the glowing? Again, they are the remains of a god. They SHOULD be fucking glowing.
If we're going to be that nitpicky, let's just ask SE to scrap the whole game, and the entire FF series while they're at it. Because, you know, it's not realistic enough.
10/14/11 - FFXIV community civil war erupts. "I'm paying and the game is gonna be awesome." VS. "I'm leaving and the game is gonna die." Let the battles begin!
For me, the bow looks really good, the rest are lacking some glow? Like, the texture is firey but without any glow it looks incomplete.

Ifrit is in XIV, therefore weapons from his horns fit in the realm of XIV's design.
Again, they look awesome.

The bow isn't realistic in the realm of aiming a bow, that upper horn thing is in the way, The bottom of the bow looks great. Also, bulky looking dosen't mean it has to weigh more, it just looks big.OK, so people mainly seem to have issues with the H2H and bow. I still don't see the problem. Maybe they are a bit bulky, but that doesn't mean they aren't realistic within the realm of XIV.

I want to point out that you have complained about everything from male summer trunks, to voice overs. You take your nitpicks Miqokini, and i'll take mine.

Lol shiva's claws...I just has an image in my head about Shiva's design having extremely long fingernails and that is what the weapon designs would come from lmao
