Been getting a lot of players who see one or two names on the enemy team, and immediately claim that we have already lost. Sad part is, it usually ends up being true, because said players don't even bother putting in the full effort. At least, I hope that's the case.

Just had a healer zone in, see a familiar SMN, and claim that it was a loss. The other players on his team were pretty mediocre. Such that with the players on my team, it really was an easy win. And I told him such. His response was to die several times, fail completely at healing, and then stop healing at all when we called him out on his inability to heal, followed by saying that I personally was terrible. Made my day, really. A terrible healer, who isn't even in the top 100, spending all that time on the floor because he believed that it was already a loss. Best part, we DPS/Tank had actually kept said SMN dead.

But, what can you do when someone doesn't care enough to try? When they throw in the towel at the slightest opposition? They act like everything is a loss, and in fact it is, because they don't have the mentality to even give it a shot. Which is why they will stay sub 100. Because those of us who actually try are facing those names head on. We're facing the top ranked player, and instead of backing down, introduce them to the business end of our weapons. It is why we are placed, and they are not. Because we don't back down.

This is probably one of the things I hate the most in PvP. It's not to say good or challenging opponents should not be acknowledged, but that is no excuse for giving up. No one is perfect. No one is immortal. I've beaten top players on Primal plenty of times and they have beaten me. It's a supposed to be a fun challenge, not a sign of impending defeat.

Edit: Thinking about it, the inverse is also annoying. You know, the times where you come into the match and someone says "Their healer/dps/tank is crap. Easy win." and then you proceed to lose because of setting that precedence of cockiness. Fair assessments are alright, but don't just assume that just because one player might be a weak link that the match is going to be a pushover. It's all about respect for both your team and your enemies.

Some players can't take the heat in PVP, unfortunately. They might be happier in Sastasha NM where they're guaranteed an easy win.

Sometimes I do make a note of familiar names on the opposing team, but me saying "they're decent" or "they're the biggest threat" isn't really synonymous with "we're going to lose", but it seems a lot of people see it that way when it's said. Based on intel I've gathered as an enemy of this person and an ally, I'm basically just presenting a threat assessment before we begin so we know who to focus on. Now, that's not to say we're going to focus on them 24/7, but 9 times out of 10, the threat is usually the one picking up the offense buff in the beginning anyway, so it's not really an issue. Still, there's nothing wrong with acknowledging a tough opponent.

It just becomes a problem when your teammates get intimidated by this guy being a gold/top 10 player. I mainly just inform them at times so they will try harder and see it as a challenge, not a reason to become discouraged.

Report them for disruption. Refusing or failing to heal without a valid reason is not am acceptable "difference of play style" & will be investigated.

Those is the higher tiers lose too. It's not like their win rate is 100%. Some have a rate of less than 50% with over 200 matches. I hate when I get the GG at a start of match -_-

Exactly. I have personally won against all of the top 10, throughout the various matches I've played with them. Just because they're top ranked, it doesn't mean they're invincible. Even ignoring the fact that the rest of their team could be, politely put, not so great at PvP, it's more than possible to beat them. I know I've introduced all of them to the business end of my bow a few times. Yes, I've lost just as many, but that doesn't mean you don't even give it a shot.
