The battle and crafting leves are unbearable. They're so bad that I can't even begin to describe how horrible they are.

Sadly they're the only content the game has at this point. The quests are sadly made to be leves with lesser rewards and no cutscenes.

Well, for me I absolutley am "content" with this game. I dont know if you want to call me a FF Fan Boy or what but I enjoy all my time on this game. From crafting to fishing to leveling it is all fun to me. I ask myself why does it appeal to me and not the next guy... what is it that is so horrible about this game? The answer eludes me. I can see some tremendous potential in it, but I only see that being attained if people stop giving up on it. I Currently have 12 games installed on my PC atm, and they have only seen any action since the earthquake. I barely know what my PS3 and PSP are anymore. Yeah I guess im saying I love it and think its sooo perttty.

If you're a 20 GLA, you shouldn't able to use Cure 3, but should have every spell up to 10 (or your current level) available for you. The current system ensures that if you take CON or THM up first, your next few jobs will level far too easily and I personally think that is a drawback.

Essentially...I'm gearing for a less soloable game. Some things should be soloable...but not 90% of the game.. lol

    Edit: To answer your questions
    1) There are a few, but most of the game needs a complete overhaul.
    2) I've been here probably longer than you and I have hope for the game =)
haha at #2 unless you were on game pre beta since i was in beta

+gamepad +switch classes +crafting -lack of content -lack of polish -lack of atmosphe

I just recently started playing the game.
    I enjoyed 3 things:
That it works so well with a game pad.
That you could switch class so easy.(You din't have to log in a and out again to try different classes.)
That crafting feels more developed than in usual MMO.

But already at lower lever you feel that the game was released pre-mature.
    - Lack of quests. In a mature game there are a lots of quests. As a example if you are a blacksmith you can't level up easy just don't the quests that are available in the starting area (if you don't do the same quests many times).
    - Lack of easy to get info for new player in game (you need to look at http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com to find out some stuff).

But what I miss most when I started the game is that I thought I would see more of NPC walking down the streets so I would look more like in the trailers. I though that it should look more like in the trailers.

I really wonder why most company do like that.
3 MMO that I started playing I left after 30 day. And I left as I though it was not good enough. Then I though I get back later an check out. But that never happens.

But FXIV has a 2nd chance as they are going to release on PS3 also. Polishing the game and add more content is where most of the development that need to be done.
Right now the game is biased toward the solo-player that likes to be a generalist. They need to be lot of thinking and testing how you can make room for the people that likes to play a specialist (and how they should work in groups) without loosing out on the benefits of the current system.

Ive been here since Alpha 1 and i still love the game. It does have its flaws but so did FFXI when it came out. The things that should have been fixed where not and there is still a lot of work....i like it and ill be here when it improves, i left 4 years of FFXI and a lot of hardwork and jobs behind me...but i don't regret it for a moment. It does get on my nerves a bit when i see others just trolling and not being constructive.

I've also been on since beta and it has improved leaps and bounds from then. I like the game but it's just lacking content. There are a few things that need some tweaking (other than the addition of content) but other than that I enjoy it and see a lot of potential for something great. Besides, they realize there are issues and that's why it's free for now. I think the new team is doing great.

to me this is the biggest reason i feel this game will make the improvements it needs made. anytime a company says "i know you were expecting to pay to play a game, but it's not good enough so we will let you play it for free til we fix it" i have high hopes for the future. this means they know they have issues, but have a plan on how to correct them or at least a general understanding to get ideas from the people that are actually playing now.

Personally, I like the direction it started in. It just needs a lot of polish. Just like any new mmo launch.

Because that's what it is, a new mmo. It's not now, nor was it ever intended to be FFxi-2.

The much debated armory system: I love it. I love being able to create the type of character I wish to play. I simply do not understand how having near unlimited flexibility to create a unique character with unique skills all your own; in anyway, makes everyone "the same" (as some have argued). Furthermore I do not grasp how making regimented classes where every player of that class is exactly alike creates "uniqueness" (as some claim).

The graphics are simply breathtaking, and a I love the style of them. They are very final fantasy style and should please any final fantasy fan.

I am tired of doing the same levequests over and over, but I fail to see how that is any different than grinding out crabs/mandies over and over as was done in FFxi. I am looking forward to more content as are we all, or as any mmo player in any mmo is for that matter.

My biggest complaint is the lack of "other" things to do. like raises chocobos, mini-games, player houses, linkshell built and owned airships/ships/guildhalls.

Lack of modern gaming convinces (*ahem* that have been around for 11 years or more) Like:
-dragging and dropping items into the chat bar to create viewable links.
-A linkshell interface that allows for enhanced features like: creating custom ranks, titles, and permissions, displays curent class, level, location, of online members ( if they are not anon) etc.
-An better online status setting for players: away, busy, do not disturb, anon etc. I more fully featured friends list with locations, ranks, status etc.
-More customizable player interface options: ability to toggle on/off any on screen element, ability to resize any screen element (without limitations), ability to change orientation of any on screen elements (rotate), ability to create custom skins for the player interface.
-Ability to create as many chat windows or tabs we see fit.
-.....the list goes on and on and on.

Overall though, I find the game in it's current state to be very playable and enjoyable if you are on a social server.

Which they admitted was the problem, because they tried too hard to make it different from FFXI instead of building off of it -- Even Rift built off of WoW and FFXI lol. XIV's direction was good, but it just doesn't work as a Final Fantasy game which is the whole problem naming it FFXIV -- you expect some sort of resemblance or evolution from the previous online FF title or any of the games before it (like they all do.)

Your complaints are proof why they should have focused on a "FFXI-2", i.e Evolution rather than being a "New" MMO since XI has all of the basics.
