I'm more hyped for samurai than anything else.
More classes is all I really want, I know I am not alone but I actually enjoy the leveling process of new classes. Plus more variety is always nice to me.
I just want them to remove these invisible walls we have. Let us fly and land where we please. Feels like a cage now.
i.e. being able to drop off a floating island and die.

I would like to see some added races and jobs brought for the next expansion. Mind you I will freeely admit that most of these are only ideas I had as a long time FF Series fan, so originality will be lacking.
Race: Esper/ Subjects
Basically the idea is a race comprised of two different peoples, one an extension of the primal elemental magiks of the world, the other mans attempt at creating that extension. The Espers would be a jovial strong caring race that is friendly and sensitive to the natural world. Adept hunters and warriors that live in a tribal society. Their connection to the magiks of the world would be expressed as faintly glowing (ley lines) runes on their bodies and faces. They would be just slightly bigger than Highlanders but smaller than Roegadyn, with a more feral appearance and wild hair options.
The other half would be the Subjects, people who were experimented on in horrible ways to boost or create beings capable of using magic as their race innately could not use aether. As the Espers felt a distortion in the natural balance they set upon freeing what they saw as their people from harm taking in the subjects that while physically different from themselves share now their connection to the primal world. The Subject people not as trusting and full of resentment to their former home grew to cherish their saviors and protect them those that would take for granted their goodwill.
Race: Viera
Shaman/ Geomancer
Role: Healer
Weapon: Double Voulge/ Double Glaive
Play style: The idea here is a melee range healer that uses both tp and mp to lay overlapping fields of aoes in and around the melee area of attack. Able to chain combos together to produce stronger fields that can either shield, heal, debuff, or enhance enemy and ally alike on the front line. (high risk/reward style combat healer)
Mystic Knight/ Necromancer
Role: DPS
Weapon: Scythe
Play style: A melee enfeebling fighter that can summon a pet to help add effects to their attacks or choose to support the pet (Owl for MK, Wraith/ Spirit for NEC) while enfeebling enemies from a distance. Pet combat would be used to spread debuffs on multiple enemies to then lead in to more concentrated melee applied attack enhancing the chance for critical attacks/effects.
Red Mage/ Blue Mage:
Role:???
Weapon: Rapier and dagger/ staff for RDM, Dual Swords for BLU
Play style: ???
Samurai:
Role: Tank
Weapon: Katana/ Paired Katana
Play style: As fan of FF-Tactics & FFXI Samurai, the idea of a new version of the Draw Out skills would be awesome to see again.
As for those that want SAM to be a DPS, or claim to want a non Tank sword class/job . The guy with the sword stands in front of the enemy. If he wanted to stab the enemy in the side or in the back a better weapon fits those needs rather than a sword. the sword is supposed to be iconic for the hero to wield in an epic dual, not jockey for position behind the enemy. Some feel that Samurai hold great significance in Japan, as much as a heroic Knight does in western cultures. The idea of a Western styled Knight dishonorably attacking someone from behind seems strange, as for the Knight (Paladin) honor was above all the most important aspect of their lives. As far as I have been able to learn over a few tears of being a fan of differnt cultures, honor was fairly important to Samurai as well.
the role of the samurai is to protect him lord by...slaying him enemy or die trying. they are glorified killer more than protector. them life wasn't even them own...As for those that want SAM to be a DPS, or claim to want a non Tank sword class/job . but that not the point, we don't care of the position of the samurai, if they create a system based on a combo of stance it can be freed of the positioning, personally i don't feel the positionning bring anything to the gameplay.
let's face it, monk will move between 2 position every 3 hit, the ninja stay behind the enemy most of the time and the dragon will try to adapt, but in the end do it bring anything really fun and interesting in terms of mechanic? not really.
another point Yoshida itself have said that for him Samurai will be a dps and we already have 2 jobs with sword as tank, one with 1 hand sword and one with 2 hand sword, even if make the samurai dual wield (what is a nonsense for FF series but who know) it will still a bit a repetition.
finally bring another tank melee with no magic (like the warrior) based on the pary (like the warrior/dark knight) it's kinda dumb. the game don't need more tank, it will solve nothing in terms of population, it's easy look even with the add of the dark knight the population of the tank didn't this much increase.
one last point:
Samurai =/= paladin/knight.... not even close, them honor was not even the same they try to justify a possible samurai tank with western honor comparaison is...dumb. even in terms of capacity and type of equipement they was using they are not comparable, paladin/knight was often wearing full plate armor with 1 hand weapon + shield (some was using 2 hand weapon).... the samurai was using a 2 hand weapon (katana,...) and a lamellar armor. they was based on attack more than defense, then make them tank will look idiot.
ps: in FF series, samurai are always a dps with skill of counter as sole defense... but that don't make them tank.
Ala Mhigo & Whip class, that is all.
IMO positioning is a plus, since it makes (a bit) harder to play properly the class, stand still smashish the keyboard with the head until the mob/boss die doesn't seem fun. Positioning is the reason of why I play monk, when I'm feeling lazy and I don't want to move I play something else like... SMN for example.but that not the point, we don't care of the position of the samurai, if they create a system based on a combo of stance it can be freed of the positioning, personally i don't feel the positionning bring anything to the gameplay.

I love the idea of a melee healer, but I would love to see the geomancer as a dps class with the skills/light gear and weapons set from the Tactics game.Shaman/ Geomancer
