Well, you know them smart fishies... I'm doing ventures and looking up the fishies info on where to find them and I've noticed on the gamerescape pages that they put different lures in the different fishing holes. I just assume a lure would catch the same fish regardless of where but does it matter where as well?

Fishing can be pretty complicated if you strive to actually know everything that's going on. Some lures work for certain fish only at a particular fishing hole, while more often it's just the percent that changes (because one hole has more fish in the pool than the other usually).

3. Pick the appropriate weather

1. *Pick a fishing spot with the best odds for given fish (ff14angler is your friend here indeed)
3. *Or weather change (!)
4. If going big, get a couple of consumables, a lot of bait, get to the place, cast your line a bit before the actual window to learn which fish tugs how hard, use patience if mooching (and stock cordials for rare window changes like that Witchdrop hunt which I do for almost 2 weeks now)... What's not to like? It's amazing. All of it, bar Fish Eyes and RNG sometimes. Oh, and vague descriptions.
Rest of it is just wonderful. And I mean it. Far far better than botanist or miner, say.

But you just sit there. At least with bot or miner, you're actually doing something. You don't have to stare at your screen, fearing to move because your fishing pole might bob or the sound comes. xD

FFXIV Angler is already pretty complete in its information, especially because it compiles information on catch frequency based on user input presented as percentages. As such, it's a very good estimator of your RNG. It has info on lures, fishing spots, fishing chances and even desynths and Aetherial reductions. It even has a bar graph that shifts depending on a semi-real time measurement of Eorzean Time.

It's basically the fisherman's bible.

This. During the downtimes for fishing I've completed so many TV shows that I needed to catch up on, or albums I needed to listen to, or school reading....
etc etc you get it.

Yeah, been reading books while fishing. I think it's just that I'm binging on fishing atm. I've gotten from 28 to 50 in a couple days. That's fast for me. Many, many, MANY ventures. It's all I've been doing. xD I don't even have my red scrips capped. LOL. Perhaps I'll like it when I finally slow down.
